This has been happening in the Newspaper business for years.

Senior experienced Editors being fired and new young editors brought in at $16,000 to $20,000 a year, and they attack the job like gangbusters!! Management doesn't give a sh*t, as long as they some "editorial" to fill in around the ads!!

Anyone who doesn't have a long term contract at CITY will most likely be let go in 2010.

Like I said earlier, it's all about money, not the people. Rogers has purchased a lot of small companies over the years and 90% of the staff at them have been let go in the past year. The CITY layoffs came in a massive swoop because they had a union there (which Rogers has been actively trying to kill), whereas at home phone and print publishing the layoffs came spread out throughout the year.
