This is a piece of news you will not see in the Toronto Star for sure. They are too busy reporting on the mortal danger of a practicing Catholic woman with a superb intellect potentially becoming a supreme court justice in the U.S. I do not like and will never like Trump but if there is anything to which he has opened the eyes of the world is the blatant hypocrisy and shameless bias of the mainstream media.

How so? By reporting the story in the first place? By reporting the murderer was killed by police? By not saying Islam itself is responsible? What alternative facts need to be applied?

I assumed the blatant hypocrisy was obvious. The hypocrisy lies in the fact that media outlets like the Toronto Star and all of its kind would not dare cover news like this one because its leftist audience would (erroneously) interpret it as promoting "islamophobia". However, they've had a field day ridiculing and demonizing Judge Amy Barrett for her Catholic beliefs. It makes me think of the famous expression from the book, Animal Farm - All pigs are created equal but some pigs are more equal than others".

Next time there is a nominee for the Supreme Court who is part of a fundamentalist islamic sect, we can see if the Toronto Star is afraid to discuss their religious beliefs.

The Catholic Church founded many of the great universities of Europe, such as the University of Paris (Sorbonne), and others. It shouldn't surprise anyone that a believing Catholic like Barrett should have such a sharp intellect.

Actually, it was the Catholic church that created the concept of the university. Therefore, all those leftist intellectuals have the Catholic church to thank for their degrees.

Justice Barret is not a fundamentalist. That is the story the leftist media wants to portray. My comment still stands. Where is the outrage from the leftist media about what happened in France? The left is morally bankrupt. That is the inevitable conclusion any reasonable individual can take.

However, let's entertain that wild and inaccurate thought for a moment and assume that she was a fundamentalist just to explore the implications of your statement. The difference is blatant. She wants to apply the law in accordance with the U.S. constitution. The leftist media ridiculed her religion and the Democrats in the Senate attacked her for her beliefs. A fundamentalist Muslim will cut your head off if you ridiculed his beliefs, instead. One of the favorite past times of the Left is to attack the Catholic Church and to ridicule those who follow it. When was the last time you saw a Catholic take a knife and chop somebody's head off? When was the last time you had a Catholic strip an explosive vest to kill a bunch of innocent people? When was the last time you saw Catholics hijack a plane to fly it onto a building? See the difference now?

You got an article where that irresponsible leftist media propaganda source, The Toronto Star supports Islamic extremism?

You got an article where that irresponsible leftist media propaganda source, The Toronto Star says that Islamic extremism and Catholic fundamentalism are similar?

Last time I checked, the irresponsible leftists were within their rights deploring an obviously ideological appointment to the USSC and no irresponsible leftists were supporting beheading people who draw cartoons of the prophet Mohamed. But maybe I'm missing something?

Well actually Nomos, I'm thanking YOU for thanking Catholicism for making our lives all a little better in 1150 AD. 850 years later, we can all feel ashamed for ever opposing that church and its beliefs, either current or present.

Some expatriate Muslims are much more critical of Islam and Muslim countries than the Star and western liberals will ever be.

When the lefty NDP proposed bringing in Sharia law, it was mainly Persian (Iranian) women who told the NDP and their fellow lefties they were raging idiots.

Muslim women protesting female oppression in Muslim countries.

I'd consider Catholic Charismatic Renewal as part of the fundamentalist tradition and "fundamentalist" is easier than getting into the weeds.
But fair, you can make an argument it shouldn't be considered so and it isn't worth the time.

I'm sure the French media is reporting on it quite a bit. The US is notoriously self-centered and they aren't going to trumpet a murder in France when they've got more than enough American news to report.
It will get a mention and then people will move on, like with most murders.

However, let's entertain that wild and inaccurate thought for a moment and assume that she was a fundamentalist just to explore the implications of your statement. The difference is blatant. She wants to apply the law in accordance with the U.S. constitution.
No. She's an originalist.

The leftist media ridiculed her religion and the Democrats in the Senate attacked her for her beliefs.
Please show me where this happened? I didn't watch the whole three days so maybe I missed it.

Probably in the late 80s, early 90s, personally.
Outside of that, I can't remember which of the terrorist organizations operating in Africa and South Asia identify as Catholic, so I wouldn't be able to tell you.
