Anti-Malware Virus

Hello all,
Yesterday I started receiving messages on my computer saying that I have a Trojan virus due to "visiting porn sites". The message was accompanied by a red circle with a cross in it on my icon bar (to the left of the clock, bottom right corner). There also appears to be a phoney copy of the windows shield icon beside this one.
When I click on the Windows shield, it tells me I have to update my virus definitions. When I tried to uninstall it, a window popped up asking me for the reason I wanted it uninstalled. I just typed in an x and continued to successfully uninstall the program but messages keep popping up telling me to register/purchase antivirus protection (3 popups since I have been typing this message). I also removed three icons from my desktop which featured nude pics of women (1 for youporn, 1 for nudetube, 1 for pornotube).
Yesterday, I visited the adult movie forum on this site and I think that is the cause of this virus. I have super anti spyware installed on my PC and ran it yesterday, apparently unsuccessfully. Is there any way I can remove it myself, or do I have to bring it somewhere to get cleaned up?

Ok, I'll just say Ontario.
It's just another virus. Probably nothing to do with visiting porn sites. Just like all those emails I get for male enhancements and Viagra. I mean, how do they know I really need these products?!? There's just a presumption that we all visit porn sites. That's why the internet was invented.

So, back to your virus. Get the details, google a help forum where those tech geeks who know everything hang out, follow their instructions. Watch out for virus catcher solutions you find on-line. Sometimes they're viruses. I like to use Spy-Bot. It's free and it works.

Good luck.

You may have to run the anti-malware software several times to clean up the problem. Also, if you can identify the name of the virus or spyware do a google search for instructions on how to remove. It should go without saying (especially if you are visting porn sites) that you should have current anti-virus software on your computer!

I have the same problem with my PC. I am working on it now but it appears this started from an anti-spyware program I downloaded which I thought was Ad-Aware. It is in fact a scam to get you to buy their software. They make it appear as a Windows program.

Run all your anti stuff as well MalwareBytes usually kills most of this trash.

Do this first before spending money on a pro.

Thanks to all who responded, especially MMMikey (welcome to TERB). I used the Malwarebytes Anti Spyware and it seems to have worked.

Malwarebytes Anti Spyware is a good security app to be added to those others you need to run to keep Windows free of nasty bugs out on the web.

Ad-Aware is good to.

I used to run both the latest versions of Ad-Aware and Malwarebytes Anti Spyware once a week for Windows. However haven't had to run them in the last month or two being on Linux 99% of the time now.
