The "All American" Corvette was made a performer by a Russian immigrant named Zora Arkov Duntov, and the 68-82 was designed by Larry Shinoda who also designed the Boss Mustangs of the late 60's if I'm not mistaken.

For those who don't think driving a Mustang or Camaro isn't fun, probably hasn't driven one. There's nothing like immediate horsepower and the sound of 8 cylinders firing while leaving two black strips behind you.
Yeah, that's why the Sting Rays were the shit! Designed by a non-American ... LOL :D

And yeah, Shinoda and Hau have left their print on an American icon in the Mustang. But I must emphasize, American engineering sucks like shit. Displacement is all they care about and no, I would not appreciate a V8 300HP engine simply because a little Lexus IS350 with "just" 3.5L I6 can produce more then 300 HP, naturally aspirated! Same goes for the M3 engine, from a mere 3.2L, you are getting 333 HP ...

C'mon, if you want power, drive a diesel ... LOL now thats brute and raw power ...

Oh, BTW, anyone heard of drifting? Let's see an American icon drift ... it's probably fall off the cliffs trying to make a sharp left turn ... HAHAHA ...

Uh, and the Cosworth Escort of the mid 1990's ... thats a British car, not an American car although Ford is an American brand. It's like the Acura TL and CL, a truly North American car with a Japanese badge.

Shinoda was born in California in 1930.

I'm pretty sure you're a magazine racer because anyone who goes to the track knows what Corvettes, Mustangs and Camaros can do.

Another reason I believe that is because you don't seem to understand that there is a huge performance aftermarket out there and 300 hp is just the starting point for the Mustang. These engines have much more horsepower potential than Japanese engines because of thier bigger displacement.

You are also forgetting about torque. It has been mentioned several times the importance of torque. It gives you your ET at the track.

You are ignoring the $$$. There's nothing wrong with Lexus products, but try and squeeze more horsepower out of the Lexus engine and see how much it costs you vs the Mustang or GM LS2 engines. Bang for the buck, they can't be beat.

As far as efficiency goes let's take a look. No numbers out for the Lexus yet, but let's look at the M3 since you mentioned it. Taken from automotive.com

M3 3.2L 16 city, 24 highway

Mustang 4.6L 17 city, 25 highway

Corvette 6.0L 19 city, 28 highway

Pretty shoddy engineering getting better fuel economy out of a larger displacement engine without the benefit of variable valve timing and in the Corvette's case, a measly 2 valves per cylinder. They should shoot themselves.

There are no performance diesel cars in North America.

Plus, cars you mentioned previously, i.e. the Integra, Civic, can't even drift because they are FWD. The car used by Bob Bondurant Driving School to teach drifting? The LS1 powered Pontiac GTO.

Bottom line. You can hate cars like the Mustang all you want, but there are no better deals out there for your performance dollar, especially if you want to further increase its performance.
