I did about fifty years ago. Still remember exactly what I did in the small town that caused me to fail. Rebooked for the next week and passed. This was when they only did tests once a week.
I was in this Service Centre in Guelph a few years ago sorting something out. It was packed and this was pre Covid. I remember when I was there that drivers that had a license before coming to Canada only need to do the written G1 test to get their Ontario license. What caught me by surprise was the test is offered in many languages, as I thought English and French would be it. Woman was upset that her father needed the test in Albanian, and that wasn't one of the languages.

If you can do burnouts, doesn't that mean that you're a pretty skilled driver already?
And he was only banned from driving for 30 days. He should be banned from ever getting behind the wheel.

License was suspended for thirty days, but if he's convicted of stunt driving he will be banned from driving for at least one year.

2 stories:

1. Clown didn't speak English but wrote the exam in his language and passed plus driving. HE never drove before.

2. Clown spoke English but was told do it in her own language to be sure and has driving before. The EGO took over and wrote the exam in English, failed it and failed the driving after passing the written the second time.

I was 16, on returning to the test location after doing good, this lovely lady chose no where else to with a very very short skirt but close to the entrance, like a good driver I payed close attention to her , maybe a bit too much thought the official , so he panicked and pulled the steering.

My instructor was shocked I had failed and laughed when I told him why.

I passed my Motorcycle one on 3rd try, all failures were for stupid little stress based mistakes, like not putting my foot down at one stop sign and "not moving my head enough." which I resolved with a very adult response. 1679523112513.png

Also got lost on one of them because the audio on the radio cut out.

Failed my Car one twice, again for stupid shit and just gave up on it, sold the car and bought a new bike. Didn't help that covid lockdowns happened right around the time I tried to schedule my 3rd attempt too.

I failed the eye test right at the start. Went and got glasses and passed written. Did drivers training and passed first shot (Airport Road and Steeles Ave)

My dad once told me about his driving test in Trinidad(probably 80 to 90 years ago).
During the drive, they came up to an intersection. My dad drove right through without stopping.
The tester asked why my dad did not stop. My dad said he did not stop because there are no cars.
The tester said o.k. You passed.

Company that runs Ontario’s driver exam centres has imposed pass-fail “norms” that differ from location to location.

That's normal and a good thing. It's not there to say "you need to pass or fail this many people" it's there to flag oddities.

As it said in the article it's already lead to some people being told to change their behavior get clarification on things or get re-trained. Which means they weren't doing their job right. Either allowing things that should be fail states or being too strict in stuff

I passed my first time. It was strange the examiner didn't say anything to me in the 30 minutes other than to give me instructions. When we got back to the driving centre, I parked the car, turned off the engine and he asked me if I took driving lessons. I replied with a nod in the affirmative and he responded with "I thought so"

I failed my first driving test 40 years ago for a fucked up reason. The dude from the Ministry was, & I'm not exaggerating, at least 350 lbs & possibly pushing 400. We came to an intersection where he asked me to turn right on a red light. I stopped, looked for pedestrians, couldn't see anything past this fucking sasquatch in my passenger seat, so proceeded to turn. Of course, there was someone trying to cross the intersection. Automatic fail.

Re-took it a month or two later & passed. How do you explain to the dude that you couldn't see anything past him because he was so huge? Especially as a 16 year old kid in the 80s.

OMG I failed with flying colors and flowing tears. Quite literally

I hadn't even made it out of the parking lot and this gigantic Jumanji size man who was like 7 ft tall and barely even fit into my car... Was already yelling at me for not stopping properly.

I then failed to get in the left hand lane to make a turn and I guess in my confusion we nearly got hit and again the scariest driving test guy on the planet started screaming and actually asked me "do you want to die today?"

Not nervous at all at this point, right? My already shotty parallel parking skills epically failed. The first time he screamed at me because I almost hit the car. The second time he yelled at me because I hit the curb. We didn't even attempt a third time. Clearly this man is not a baseball fan because I did not even get three strikes on this one.

Let's just fast forward to the point where we get back to the parking lot where I have now angle parked the car back into the spot. I turn off the ignition and this man actually looks at me and says... "Well you failed"

No shit Sherlock! By this time I'm literally shaking and I'm holding back the tears and just trying to hold together my last few shreds of dignity. But let me tell you the minute that man left my car I was bawling like a baby getting his vaccinations.

Horrible experience... 1/10... Wouldn't repeat 😜
