Yep ... Got my first CRA 226xxxxxxxxx call yesterday and someone with an East Indian accent left a message on my voice mail ... Delete the message, ignore the call and don't call them back

They just want me to get my ducks cleaned.
I of course, don’t have any ducks and ask them not to call back.

Getting Chinese ones as well, male and female. CRA, check. Duct cleaning, check.

Earlier this year (seem to have stopped) was getting calls from Microsoft claiming my windows PC had issues of some sort. Asked them what the computer name was and they got all flustered. I asked them to stop calling and they did ... for now.

These folks who spent time developing these scams, I wonder if they devoted as much effort at a real job if they couldn't make more money? Think I just answered my own question, they would have real jobs if they made more. Asswipes.

BTW, if you get a recorded ad and listen to the very end you may have an option to speak to a live person. I've done that and asked them to stop calling and given them 3 or 4 numbers to put on a do not call list and it actually stopped. Until the next scammer started calling........

I have rarely received these calls, but now I've gotten three in the last three months. I let all three go to voicemail as I don't pick up unless I recognize the number. One from a "private investigator" telling me I need to lawyer up and call him back, else an arrest warrant would be issued for me. And two from the "CRA" saying there's an urgent matter to discuss and unless I call back an arrest warrant will be issued for me.

At this point I must have three arrest warrants out for me, but I'm a wily bugger. They'll never find me! :D

And if the CRA wants to contact you, they do it only through "notice of assessment".
Completely incorrect. CRA regularly calls people. I do it every day.

I've been getting lots of calls from 226 #'s lately. All these b.s. credit card scams promising to lower your interest rate.

Yes, but they don’t threaten to arrest you over the phone. In addition, serious matters are never handled with a prerecorded message, or matters discussed unless the taxpayer’s identity has been confirmed.

That used to be a number that claimed to be the CRA, and they wanted an immediate response, otherwise, you were going to be charged. Clearly a fake number that preys on Seniors who conform to their directions:

I got a CRA type call before. Now they are even more sneaky. They will send a fake email transfer. The CRA does not send email transfers do not accept them if you see them!!

Of course they don't, but his assertion was that CRA only contacts people via a notice of assessment, which is patently absurd.
