The team will play at Delta Center, home of the Jazz, until a new arena can be built.

Its not all that uncommon - Colorado in Hockey, Minnesota (in all sports), Tennessee and Carolina (Football), Utah in Basketball... I may be missing some.I am a bit surprised though why they chose to keep the Utah name as oppose to Salt Lake City. Saw some names on SC this morning around as Utah HC, Utah Blizzard and Utah Fury. Wonder why they won't use Salt Lake City?
Houston and Austin aren't a bad idea. Houston is massive - about 7 million - and they both have a natural rivalry with the Stars.I'm sure the players and other owners are thrilled. I wonder how much the Yotes depressed the salary cap because they weren't pulling in a lot of hockey related revenue with that college arena that they couldn't fill.
Now, I'll say Betman made a mistake to an extend on the Desert experience. But, look at the NHL players from Arizona! Matthews, Knies, , Tage Thompson, the Tkachuck brothers....Matthews alone is a superstar.
Utah makes some sense. They have a good arena ready for hockey, the NHL likes the owner, they don't have to rejig conferences, and they can start next year.
The NHL wants expansion money from places like Houston or Quebec, and maybe Phoenix or Atlanta, but I don't know why they would go back thinking things would be better...
It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.I am a bit surprised though why they chose to keep the Utah name as oppose to Salt Lake City. Saw some names on SC this morning around as Utah HC, Utah Blizzard and Utah Fury. Wonder why they won't use Salt Lake City?
I understand each player and exec is being given a full set of the TV reality show "Sister Wives" and 3 free wives courtesy of the Mormon Tabernacle elders as a welcoming gift to America's weirdest and most regressive state.I like the Utah Polygamists.
Still a better love story than the WNBAWith 25 or so players and another 25 execs, the wives will guarantee at least 150 people attend each home game.
I'm guessing both Konowalchuk and Lewis were from Alberta families and were born at 7/11's outside Salt Lake City when their parents decided to motor down to Vegas despite mom being 8 months pregnant. With the rich hockey heritage of SLC/Utah, I can't see how this can be anything but a ringing success. Torontonians had best be prepared for when we have to give up the title of the centre of the hockey universe.
Who knew?
