I agree. To some extent, it was like these parents were training their child to be a stripper.

Not that there's anything wrong with being a stripper -- just that you don't expect your parents to groom you for that!

Wasn't he arrested in Thailand on sex charges? Maybe he wants to get a ticket back to the USA.
Absolutely. I mean, he's in Thailand on a sex crime rap. Where would you want to do your time for the rest of your life?? Some 3rd World South Asian Hell-hole prison, or an air-conditioned facility in the good old US of A??!!

Many here quite properly condemn the media for its alleged calumny of the parents in the tendency to place them front and centre as the culprits ultimately responsible for their daughter's horrific murder. And there is no doubt that their ostensibly well-meaning preoccupation with the inherent exploitation of the child's beauty and innocence fed into the bizarre focus on the child as it promoted both sympathy for the parents and suspicious contempt for them as well.

But the irony is that all we have at the moment are media reports alleging the guilt of the sorry individual. And those who are most virulent in their contempt for media judgement and sentence in earlier analyses of the investigation, tend now to rely equally upon current media prosecution and sentence for the truth about this man. Some even burning him at the stake before he has even been tried and convicted.

I think a little caution and respect for procedural justice is necessary before people get all itching and scratching with vengeance and mob virulence.

I wouldn't let anyone off the hook yet until all the facts are in.

Civilization requires respect for procedural justice.

"The teacher who says he killed child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey sipped on champagne and dined on prawns and duck as he flew back to the United States, where he's expected to be charged with murder.

John Mark Karr landed in Los Angeles (1430 AEST Monday) after a business class flight from Thailand, where he was arrested last week and stunned the world by publicly confessing to high-profile killing.

Karr enjoyed champagne and ate fried king prawns and roast duck on the 15-hour Thai Airways flight, sharing "small talk" with US officials who took notes about what he said as they escorted him home."

Very very true....

What do you make of the father calling for calm and for people to take a wait and see approach. For a guy that has been thru so much, he seems quite calm over the whole thing... Being naturally suspicious, it seems to me that he is all too calm... as if he knows that this fellow is not guilty....

Why does the press report this shit.... I believe in freedom of the press, but there are many times that I think that it's abused. In this case, it's just sensationalism. This stuff probably happens all the time when they transport prisoners by plane. They pay the highest price for their plane tickets and thus they get the best service.... It's a slap in the face, but it happens...

It's been good to know ya
Year Book handwriting may hold clue as to why he was brought back

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14448616/

As Karr was being flown business class from Bangkok, Thailand, to Los Angeles on Monday, NBC News obtained a high school yearbook signed by Karr in which he writes to a friend that "I shall be the conquerer (sic)" — a reference that some suspect might be tied to the mysterious initials "S.B.T.C" used on a ransom note left at the scene of the 1996 crime.

The words do not appear anywhere in the yearbook as an acronym, but they are written in upper case characters.

I disagree, it should be reported . The fact his food was paid for by us is wrong and unless it is reported it will never be stopped , you should never cover up what I call abuse of public funds . The government does this all the time .

They could have loaded him into one of those large dog carriers and sent him as checked baggage. Just a thought.

Once you pay the full price for a plane ticket you have bought the food.... simple as that... there is no abuse here... It's not like they took him to a strip joint and paid for dances...

However, it sounds like they were using the food to loosen him up on the flight... perhaps so he will talk freely...
