Australia has their economy chugging along and their immigration policy is a dose of reality compared to our open border.
This article rightly trashes Canadian policies on our economy and policies.
Hmm, wonder why? We all know the answer.

Australia, on the other hand, has kept immigration relatively steady compared to pre-pandemic levels, admitting around 80,000 permanent residents last year, compared to 471,770 in Canada.
Head scratcher.

Who is David Foot?
Demographer. Boom Bust and Echo book was a big seller in Canada.
I am looking online now to see if others also agree the Australian boom came later.

I found this using copilot.

In terms of birth rates, the largest cohort of births in Australia’s history occurred in 1971, with 276,400 births as the cohort of women born in 1947 reached their peak reproductive years. However, this was not indicative of a sustained baby boom throughout the decade.

Doesn't sound like 80K to me.

An estimated 300,000 to 600,000 people are living in the country without valid documents, many of whom risk deportation because they lack formal status, The Global and Mail quoted , opens new tab Miller as saying.Dec 14, 2023
