I thought there is a rule/law that a bank cannot be closed for 4 consecutive days. I went to my local "Big 5" bank branch and the sign on the door said:

December 23 closed
December 24 closed
December 25 closed
December 26 closed

I concur it is weird, but with so much online banking and credit, debit payments these days, not as much a biggie as it once was.

I can remember bailing from work at 4 on Fridays and then rush to the bank branch to stand in line and get cash from a teller for the weekend, before the days of even ATM's

My concern is I have to make a credit card payment and I might not make the deadline because of all these "closed" days. I think online banking goes to the next business day which is 3 calendar days away.

Use the ATM. You can deposit a payment to a CC via an ATM. Just insert your card like you do your debt card and use a machine that accepts cash. Payment is registered instantly on your credit card.

Or log into your account and transfer the money from your chequing account. Do not make a payment. Transfers are instant

Depends on the card to be honest. I have had some stop at the first of the month and some at the end of the month. Google your card, it might pull up the section for the terms and conditions of your card

Thanks. I never made a CC payment using an ATM before so I will probably mess it up. An online payment wouldn't work in this case as I didn't have enough cash in my bank account so I would have had to deposit cash (some of the cash is in coins too) at the ATM and then make a CC payment at the ATM which I never done before so would probably screw it up.

P.S. One problem with online payment is it takes 24-48 (usually 48) hours to post.

I have would need to check this out or call my bank, I didn't know the difference.

On side note banks are now closing the ATM's because of the homeless and people looking for wi-fi.

Why did you wait until the last minute to pay your bill when the due date is clearly printed on the statement? I always pay my bills a few business days ahead of the due date in case there are any problems. The more important question is why don't you have enough cash in your bank account?
