Deserved champions Barcelona. Sublime, clinical and brilliant football from them.

Kurt Menafee should stick to commentating NFL and stay out of Euro soccer.
He made sooooooooooooooo many mistakes in the pregame show.
Just for future reference Kurt?
It's Hungary.......... not Hungaria
Those were Coldstream Guards carrying the trophy......... not Beefeaters
And it's Wayne Rooney.......... not Dwayne Rooney

Very embarassing showing by Man U, they realized they're not as good on the world stage as they thought they were.

Yeah losing the championship game and finishing second in all of Europe.
Yeah they really suck.

THe game was over as soon as Carrick was in the starting 11. Not sure how they could opt for Owen on the bench over Berbatov. But there was only going to be one winner, Barcelona are Spain-lite PLUS Messi, that's a difficult task for anyone.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. Also, I would have stated Nani instead of Valencia.

It doesn't matter who ManU started their game was ill suited to Barca's nanosecond passing game. That is why Jose Mourinho getting Hamit Altintop may be the steal of the summer transfer season. He didn't have a player who could be his Javier Zanetti so he got him before any rival bids happened. Don't be surprised if one of either Essien or DDR joins him. For the later it may seem impossible but if Pirlo can move to Torino don't bet against it.

On the flip side, Sampdoria has been demoted to Serie B - Federico Macheda returns to Old Trafford with his tail firmly between his legs.

Soccer dudes. Is there a salary cap of any kind in Euro soccer ?
How much are tickets ? Please convert to Canadian dollars and I am not looking for exact amounts, just ballpark.
I want to go to Cuba on our next vacation, but the wife wants to go to Europe and I thought 'when in Rome ...'

Is everything(hotels/restaurants/etc) air conditioned like here ?

There is no salary cap in European soccer. There are going to be FIFA Fair Play initiatives within the next couple of seasons, that's a cap to an extent, but it wouldn't be a hard cap similar to the NHL/NBA model.

I've only been to games in England, and those were approximately $150/CDN pair. But it depends on the stadium/team/opposition/competition, I think you can get more reasonable priced tickets in Italy/Spain.

As for A/C, I wasn't there in the summer months...but from what I understand, Europe doesn't seem to be A/C driven like North America!

Hayward, go to Cuba, Rome is exponentially pricier. And don't go to Rome in the summer months the heat is stifling; May,June,September and October are the best months. Also make sure you have your accommodations booked well on advance.

For a must see go to the Church of St Peter in Chains. Just two rights from the Via Republica off the Coliseum roundabout. There you will see Michelangelo's equivalency to the Sistine Chapel in sculpture, the Mausoleum of Pope Julius with his Moses as the centerpiece.

If you are planning on taking in a football match prices range between $50 to 120. If you are in a Curva WEAR THE APPROPRIATE STRIP. Pastel blue for the Nord and red and yellow for the SUD.

Make sure your credit cards are clean the SO will be taking you on major shopping trips.

I didn't know he signed Hamit Altintop. Nice player, but is he that much better than Lass or Khedira? But he is much better than playing Pepe in that role.

Hope he likes the bench...they also signed Sahin (I think that is his name) from Dortmund. Again, not sure how much playing time he sees.
