I gave up on using p2p apps for music. Too much crap and bogus files on p2p.
Torrents are the way to go on linux. There are several torrent apps, Transmission, Vuze/Azureus, Deluge, KTorrent, etc.
Newsgroups are my favorite for getting music and everything else but you have to be a paid subscriber to use newsgroups.

I haven't tried any of those ones you mentioned. I have, however, used utorrent, is it as easy to use those ones as utorrent?

I actually did get frostwire to work , but its pretty crappy when it comes to finding songs.
when I type in an artist , the list of songs is usually pretty short.

bearshare would bring up a huge list of songs with many sources.

Nicotine-Plus is a great p2p in linux

Nicotine-Plus p2p, is in the Ubuntu repositories. Just look it up and install it. Played around with it a bit and got great selections and all good quality mp3s.

I don't download as much stuff as in the past.

However a week ago I got and entire album in 15 minutes using the torrent client built right into Opera browser.

µTorrent does not work with Ubuntu but there are others that do listed above. Just got signed up with Demonoid and had to use Bit Tornado client or Vuze.
Get my best speeds using Opera or Transmission clients.

Don't know about Canada but I'm in NY.

These linux apps are worldwide and seem for the most part untouched by the RIAA & Hollywood BS.

Right now I'm into Bossa Nova music. Did a search for a couple current hot Bossa Nova singers Cibelle and Celso Fonseca in BT Junkies, Pirate Bay and Demonoid and came up with pretty much 'zero hits'. I heard their current music played on Brazilian online radio stations. You can't even buy their music on CDNow or Amazon.com if you wanted to. Did the same search with Nicotine-Plus and came up with a whole sh*tload of their music, I couldn't believe all the songs listed there.

Ubuntu forums are great for help.
All my PCs are dual booted with Ubuntu & Windows so I can use either but I'm on linux 99% of the time now. Only go on MS to check for updates to keep all current, then it's back to Ubuntu where everything just runs worry free and faster.

You're gonna love Nicotine-Plus.....
