I am reading a great book called The world is flat. Great insight.
It got me thinking what the heck people did before the net to participate in this hobby.
I started approx 1996...had win95 and sloooooooow speed. I remember a site called lyla's list, the redzone had john's corner. So this led me by the johnson to what we know today.(competation must be fierce)

ANYWAY

What did SP's do more then 10 yrs ago and how did couples connect??

It`s the oldest profession in the world, by comparison the Internet has only been around for about ten years. There`s always a way to find it.

Papers like Now or the Sun Media rags were advertising for escorts long before the Internet. The phone lines like Telepersonals and Quest were used by a lot to meet others with similar sexual interests while staying somewhat anonymous. There used to be a newspaper in Ontario called Tab which could be found at most magazine shops that consisted of fairly explicit escort/domme ads.

There was always a way, but the Internet has made it a lot easier.

way out in left field
I used now magazine and that was back when a lot of sp's were bait and switch. First experience was HORRIBLE but hey, what did I know?

I was thinking of what life was like before the net just this week also and I mean, there were BBS's (bulletin board systems) but that was about it.

Thinking back, damn we have it made now......

here's a thought for you: there's kids out there today that don't know what a rotary dial phone is!

I wrote a history of the Toronto escort scene which was published on Dave in Phoenix's site. Since the early 80's, the local scene has been escort agency driven, as opposed to bar driven. So it was just a matter of the advertising being different and there being no way for customers to connect.

In the early to mid 80's, most guys used the escort section in the Yellow
Pages. After that, NOW and EYE magazines became the prime source of finding talent. You always took pot luck on how the girl looked and so you tried to find a reliable agency and stick with it for as long as you could.
