That is not rap. Not a bad beat-box at the beginning but this is reggae if anything. And he's pretty much just a novelty act.

I like my chefs French, my mechanics German and my rappers from the dirty south. The heavy weight champ is still Ludacris

PS Why is Scott Baio still around? Did he not get the hint after Charles in Charge and Jonie luvs Chacci. Got to give him credit though, except for Lavar Burton, Chacci had some of the greatest performances on the Battle of The Network Stars in the late 70's and early eighties/

Apart from the beatbox beginning...this isn't rap by a long shot...this is ska/soca/reggae.

The best & most successfull rapper of all time is Eninem (unfortunately) with Tupac as an honourable mention.

Maybe the success part according to money and records sold, but YOU don't think he is really the best....DO YOU?

Yes I do because of his versatility.

No other rapper performs with the speed, humor, conviction, clarity and emotion that Eminen does. Like him or not, he is the Elvis of rap with skilz off da hook yo!

Where the fuck have you been?

Ever hear of Kish? He came out way before Jin and he was Canadian.
Kish was pretty funny.Remember that song "I Rhyme The World In 80 Days" ?(I think it was called that).

Jin is pretty good, but that really cheesy "Learn Chinese" song was just plain bad. It would have been nice to see him battle The Poster Boy or Jae Millz on a tournament of champions freestyle friday on 106 & Park.

I vote for Snopp Dogg.

How can you make fun of Scott Baio? Regardless of how stupid his shows are, he has fucked more celebrity women than any other human being, google him if you do not believe me.

Ludacris is good, but he doesn't compare to Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kwali, Common, Nas, Eminem, Devin The Dude, and quite a few others.
Puh-lease. Except for Mos Def and Talib Kwali, who by the way I like but their no where near Luda-WHAT! The others I don't care for. I guess it just goes to show you the many sub-sections of rap. It's like saying that Van Halen is better than MegaDeath. There both part of the Rock/Metal genre but that's where the two seperate.

Ludacris is dirty south commerciallized, while Kanye west is Chicago. Kanye West is a self proclaimed legend and I've yet to hear anything I like by him except for the cellular commercial on BET but only because ludacris is in it.

Everyone in rap seems to have a beef with one another, but to my knowledge hotlanta's finest just goes about his business and writes tunes like southern hospitality which imho is a masterpiece. I give you evidence...

my goodness, such youth! IMO, all above are shameless - less talent copies of KRS One and Ice T, but they do put on a fancier stage show.

However, nothing compares to 1985's Sly & Robbie Rhythym Killers: IMO probably the best piece of recorded music in any genre. One of raps' most covered and sampled works, almost single handed gave rise to rap, with BDP (for those recently born: Boogie Down Productions) and Run DMC.

 Who cares...RAP SUCKS anyways. Rock has survived to 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and continues...how long will rap survive?

It's all talking with the same beat...you don't need to know how to play an instrument to be a rapper, so don't call them musicians. It's mechanical music, all done with computers.

Rap has been around since the 70's. It went mainstream in the 80's. They said it would die, but it blew up in the 90's, and dominates the charts in 2K5. Name me one rock group in this day that has surpassed Snoop Dogg, Fifty Cent, Ludacris, and Eminem in terms of sales and hits.

You are correct. They aren't musicians. They are artists. They are poets who rhyme over a beat. Hip-hop is non-linear. It doesn't follow a pattern like other forms of music. That's why it is ground breaking music. That's why it is successful.

Anyways. I'm more old school. I don't really listen to it much these days.
