Jays with all that money being spent are sinking fast.
The whole money thing was more of a mirage. The Jays were seriously underfunded and then they spent money to bring them up to the middle of the pack.

Heard a funny piece on the Fan590 this morning. They do a fake interview sometimes with Paul Godfrey making an announcement of some kind. Don Landy may do the voiceover, not sure?? Today the joke was Godfrey announcing the signing of Bill Caudil. He says although I haven't pitched in 20 years, I kept in shape by making my own wine. Freaking hilarious. :D

Maybe David Wells or Jimmy Key. They need a left hander.

I can't believe I am going to say this but ... I miss Lilly right now.

Even his average season would be better then getting smacked around game after game.

Does it get any worse? Halliday gives up 7 hits in the third innings for 6 runs. I can't watch anymore.

In contrast Jays bases loaded with one out in the first innings get no runs.

They are in melt down and must now be about the worst team in baseball.

It's a nightmare. They have a good lineup (forgetting injuries) but absolutely everything is going wrong.

One would think the axe is going to fall...therefore the question is, who gets the axe?
You can't blame one person. It's a teamwide thing.

Blame the manager or the GM. It's obviously their fault that they've had so many injuries.

Unlucky with injuries of course.

Something wrong with some of their decisions though. Bases loaded with one out tonight and they get nothing. Seems to be happening all the time. You can blame the manager for some of that as nobody seems to want or be able to sacrifice bunt or fly.

Exactly. SOME of it. It's a teamwide thing. There's not one pitcher who's pitching well, starter or reliever. What's a manager to do? Overbay, Glaus, Wells, Rios etc all hit better last year with the same manager. Was he smart offensively last year but became stupid this year?

This just seems to be one of those years that everything that can go wrong will go wrong, no matter who is doing what.

That's why I speculated...

I would have to agree that sometimes it isnt the managers fault at all, but people want to point the finger at someone.

Anyone got any ideas why Halliday has had those 2 awful innings in his last 2 games?

As far as the manager is concerned, it would be really stupid to blame him for everything. Not sure anyone is doing that? Given the quality of the batting line-up I do wonder why they don't perform when there are runs to be had through sacrificing. Seems to be against team orders.

Doc said he's having probs with his mechanics. All the Jays are fighting themselves right now.

Apparently it's because of appendicitis.

Halladay gone 4-6 weeks
May 11, 2007

Sportsnet.ca has learned that the Toronto Blue Jays have placed staff ace Roy Halladay on the 15-day disabled list with an accute appendicitis, and will be gone for four-to-six weeks.

Halladay had struggled in his past two starts, allowing 16 earned runs in 10 1/3 innings in losses to both the Rangers and Red Sox.

More details to follow.

I'm hoping you're being sarcastic. Anyone who's had appendicitis will testify that it's not possible to pitch at all with an unhappy appendix, good or bad. The flareup in his belly happened after he got hammered by the Red Sox, but it's damn near impossible that he could have remained in the game with the kind of pain that an inflamed appendix would have caused.
