Trade Lind, Rasmus and Lawrie for a starting pitcher. The present team playing has good chemistry.
So, you want to trade 2 guys who can't hit a lick these days, and a fan favourite, for a starting pitcher.
Exactly who what do you expect the Blue Jays to get in return: someone more like A. J. Burnett, or someone like Roy Halladay?

The fact that you would even suggest trading Lawrie at this juncture tells you know nothing about this game.

I do not know what exactly to get in return but with good scouting, a young prospect like Roy Halladay is possible.

Starting pitching has been the most consistent part of the team. Not one has performed poorly.
You cannot get enough because injuries are part of the game.

Lawrie is a natural second baseman and Gomes is a natural third baseman. I would trade Lawrie but being a Canadian it may cause a riot in Toronto if it happens today. Once Gomes proves he can play the game better than Lawrie then it will happen sometime in the future.

I don't know if that will ever happen... but I'd love to watch the competition between them!

And I am sure that if it were a close contest, the BJ's would find room for both!

complete game shut out by Morrow today

good to see we also winning those low run games :)
Morrow pitched well. It was a pleasure to watch. He also caught a huge break on the call at second in the 9th.
Replay showed the runner clearly safe so Morrow has a runner at 3rd and 2 out, instead of runners at 2nd and 3rd, 1 out.

Gomes is versatile, catch, first, third, DH. Lets see what happens when the scouts get a good read on him. If he continues to hit he is a keeper, although I think the original plan was 4 games. Lind has to show he can hit before ant decision can be made on him. If he hits in Vegas he will probably be back, if he doesn't, release, trade, minor leagues????
They're unlikely to send Gomes back until he dries up at the plate. Lind might be in LV for a while.

According to Mike Wilner's twitter account @wilnerness590 , Adam Lind has been placed on Outright Waivers, if another team claims him, he's gone, and the $8,000,000 owed to him is on the other team's books.

If he gets through O.W., (and he will) he is outrighted to Las Vegas, removed from the 40 man roster, and will play for the '51's.

I would like to see Lawrie make the transition to second base and watch him compete with Johnson and Gomes. Someone out of the three has to be bench warmer.

Gomes is listed as a catcher/3B. I have no idea where you get the idea he is a natural 3rd baseman. Most of his experience is behind the plate.
Lawrie started out as an outfielder. Milwaukee was working him at second. when he was traded here there was a need for a 3rd baseman and he went to Vegas to learn the position. Where does it say he is a natural 2nd baseman?

I guess that answers my question about what to do with Lind. According to Lind, nobody told him he's been put on waivers. Very unlike A.A. He's usually a straight shooter.

A clear cut case of 'what have you done for us lately', nothing personal of course. It is a good move for all and who knows what will result.

Good point. Dave Stieb was an outfielder and they converted him to a pitcher. Gomes can be a better third baseman than Lawrie. Lawrie can share duties with Johnson and Gomes. Overall they have a better infield and should reduce the error triggered Jays.

I guess it depend on what you define as "better". I personally don't think Gomes is anywhere near Lawrie when it comes to athleticism. It allows Lawie to make plays that most players cannot. It also lead to him making more errors than most would like. I still think based on the fact that he can get to more balls than most that he's a better option @ 3rd than Gomes. I would actually like to see Gomes @ 1st. I like Edwin and all, but not all that comfortable with him on the field as 1st in the long run...

Brett Lawrie 6 errors and counting. One of the errors in the ninth cost the Jays a win.
