Thank God he's gone. Have no idea why they were looking at him to begin with. The bigger problem is the loss of Morrow. He's the only reliable SP on the team (ya ya I know Romero is 7-1 or something). These guys are looking pretty sick to me. Clutch hitting is pretty much non existent. Alvarez can't keep the ball in the yard tonite as usual. I've lost track of how many opponent players have hit their first homer of the year off BJ pitching. Happened again tonite.

Agreed. He was going to be a rent-a-player only good for this year anyway. He's also a RH bat and they need a power LH bat.
I can see AA trying to deal for Morneau or a tandem of Garza and Lahair from the Cubs come the deadline.
Might be able to get Morneau cheap. His production is still good but the average and OBP is down, his health is still a concern and he's making $14m per for this season and next. Twins may just want to dump the salary and pick up a couple of prospects (maybe throw in Cooper as one of them and then it becomes even cheaper - other than Parmalee in the minors reducing the need for Cooper). Now, I don't have any hatred towards Cooper but if coughing him up for a getter option is the price of getting a deal done, sobeit, it's business.
Lahair is looking like a late bloomer but hasn't been in the majors long. I'm sure Cubs will want a pricey package for Garza which could be a deal breaker. Lahair is controllable through 2018 which if he's a break-out player that would be a great pick-up, worth the risk, and value for the other prospects otherwise given up for Garza. Lahair is blocking Anthony Rizzo. If they don't want to budge on Lahair then ask for Rizzo.
Morneau is a gamble. Huge contract and has the concussion thing. Even if the Twins took Lind"s salary I don't think he is worth the risk.

Drew Hutchinson has been a nice litte surprise. Seems to be getting better as the season goes.
Despite the false hype the Jays weren't a playoff team with all five starters healthy. They are now guaranteed the cellar. You can't compete in the AL East on a consistent basis with a 70 million dollar payroll. Rogers should sell the team if they don't have an interest in winning. Toronto fans deserve better.
John Ferrell is too hard on our starting pitchers. He expects them to go at least 5 whole innings every 5th day. That's asking too much. No wonder they are breaking down.
Villanueva started for them last year and can start if needed (at this point it is needed!!!) and they have Cecil up already. They could go with 4 starters until AA can find some help out there (though not desired of course).
