The thought of urbanites heading to their cottages for peaceful shelter , and some R&R , runs counter to the Reality of the average cottaging weekend , finding imbeciles on all forms of land and water motorized toys , ripping around , causing mayhem , endangering their lives and the lives of others. The average cottage weekend in southern Ontario is a shitshow of commotion, noise and chaos , deaths , unruly drunkards ,and emergency room visits by urban moronic clowns . It’s no wonder the locals want them to remain home. Kevin OLeary, please stay home

This sound more like the locals running around in their 4 wheelers, snowmobilng, breaking into cottages and having 4 am bonfires blasting music mid week. There’s always a nice surprise for us urbanites when we open in the spring. My families had a cottage for 70 years I’ve seen it all.

You can go to ANY place in ONTARIO free of charge (and most other provinces and even some states albeit with far less coverage)



I agree the nonsense about "stay in a crowded city and line up for groceries" is absurd

I took my fam up north just last weekend no issues

While some of that certainly happens, especially on the overcrowded big three lakes in Muskoka, it is far less prevalent on the smaller less populated lakes. I’m all for shutting down the waterways to powered boats until this is over. Any cottage owner will tell you the majority of what you have described is caused by cottage renters, not cottage owners. It can be like the adult version of Spring Break in the mid summer months.

If the head yahoo can visit the cottage to check his pipes, no reason to keep the North shuttered if you act responsibly.

his property taxes go towards that hospital and the roads that lead to it.

I am personally going up a few days early, just in case of a RUSH.
