FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — BMW CEO **Harald Krueger collapsed Tuesday during a news conference at the Frankfurt auto show and was helped off stage by staff. His condition was not serious, the company said later.

Krueger stumbled backward and fell on his back during the first five minutes of the presentation of the German auto house's new lineup.

Staff rushed to help Krueger back on his feet, and he rubbed the back of his head, looking stunned as he was lifted up and led off stage by staff.

BMW spokesman Maximilian Schoeberl said that 49-year-old Krueger had been recently traveling a lot, and was not feeling well ahead of the presentation but decided to go ahead with it.

Schoeberl said Krueger, who took over as BMW's CEO earlier this year, was seen by a doctor following the incident, who recommended that he cancel his other appointments for the day and rest at home.

"His condition is not worrisome, they've ruled out anything serious," Schoeberl said.

A round table Krueger was to hold with journalists was instead conducted by the company's

Probably happened when he found out how much their cars cost.
BMW's are for pretentious douchebags. There not even reliable and they depreciate quickly.
Stick with Toyota/Honda.

So basically nothing happened of any consequence to somebody most of us have never heard of.

I guess you had to make the title sound like the car company collapsed to get anybody to read it.

Honda quality has gone down hill over the years. I can attest to that.
Toyota has had a few recalls over the past few years as well hasn't it?

They're all pieces of scrap metal (shit), although Kia seems to be alright, but I've never owned one.

More expensive repairs and what not, no? Oil changes in particular cost most than a Corolla or Civic from what I was told.
I'm not cars and couldn't fix one if my life depended on it, but this was pointed out by a couple of friends who know their cars and one is a mechanic.

Once you own one BMW or European cars, you will never go back to Japanese cars. . The handling of BMW, Audi and Mercedes and Japanese cars are completely different. It 's like comparing Apple and Orange. You never lose control with European cars. They are for people who loves driving and good road feel. I feel much safer driving in European cars which the car does what I want to do. Japanese cars are good for easy driving and good transportation . That's about it and the quality of Hondas and Toyotas are all going down hill.

I totally disagree. Comparing BMWs and Toyotas it's like comparing Hy's steak house and Golden Griddle. You have to know how to appreciate these things. Those who appreciate will see the difference and those that don't should stick to their regular cars.

The current crop of Japanese cars such as the Lexus series from Toyota are among the best cars ever built in terms of prececion engineering, styling, reliability, durability and resale value. In terms of assembly line technology, it was the Germans who showed the Japanese how to make cars once upon a time, now the car converse is true. The Japanese assembly line robot technology is currently second to none and is currently the industry standard. The Japanese robot technology is patented and in many cases covert and made the new Porsche Macan factory's amazing production possible. There is also a not so surprising amount of shared technology among automakers globally now, with third party companies manufacturing common parts. There is a lot of plastic and polymer technology everywhere now in all cars. In terms of prestige and pretentiousness, storied German monikers like BMW etc will all ways have their followings.

You can make an inexpensive/reliable Japanese car perform like a Euro car with a few simple add ons.
You can't make a Euro car as reliable and inexpensive to maintain as a Japanese car.
I've had BMWs and Audis, I prefer Hondas.

There is a distinct solid feel to driven a big heavy German sedan, but these cars once out of warranty are not so reliable and the repair bills and maintence bills are extremely heavy. A know a lady in real estate who has a 7 series BMW for show and image due to her trade. The car was out of warrant, she had to replace a faulty door and the price for parts and labour was insane. While under warranty the car door was constantly giving trouble, the dealership repaired several times but would not put in a new door.

Everybody has their favorites but you can't deny the feel of driving a Bimmer. I'm partial to the older ones though, like this 3.0 CSL.

Surprisingly, not really (at least, in my experience). Germans can cost more, because BMW specifies synthetic motor oil. I prefer to use synthetic anyways. However, service intervals are longer for Germans, perhaps as long as 2:1 (6months vs. 12 months) depending on what and how you drive. Also, if you're moderately handy and can do your own wrenching, you have lots of options for parts online for cheap. (hell, I'm not handy at all and I can handle most minor repairs/maintenance).

This, esp with BMW. The driving experience is tangibly better. It just puts a grin on your face everytime you take a corner.

Disagree, and it's the kind of thing people expect arrogant BMW owners to say :p. I would say that it's more like comparing Hy's (a chain) to The Keg (also a chain). You can be assured of a decent steak at the Keg. It's consistent, it won't offend and it woill please most people. It's...dependable.

you can get an import to *almost* drive like a euro, but it won't be a euro. You can't mod a thoroughly engineered chassis or 50/50 weight distribution on that chassis. FWD is not RWD. Ever.

I've had BMWs and MBs. I still do and I'm actually in the market to get another MB. But my DD is a Japanese SUV because at this point in my life, I just don't have the time for finicky. I need a car that will start every morning and doesn't need more than a weekly stop at the gas station....

It probably happened when he got the note from Merkle stating that she had agreed that the company would provide each migrant with a brand new car free of charge.

You mean kinda like when guys claim to pick out patterns in other posters, criticize the community with the same principles that are evident in their own posts...looks like the terb crowd are experts at everything and anything...yup but you/we still keep coming back
