Shopping around is a good idea. However, the OP should check the practitioner's references and reputation, as well. there are a few scammers out there when it comes to orthodontics, as with any other treatments.Shop around. I had braces on in my late thirties for a couple of years. The cost was about $2500, if I remember correctly.
Invisalign is not for everyone, however. We went through looking at the options for my two brats a few years ago. The orthodontist we chose was very reputable and quoted us a price of about $6k for each child, with follow-up for some time after the braces came off.Depends on the case. If your teeth are crooked as hell, it'll cost more. My cousin was a moderate case and her braces cost $5000 ten years ago. I hear that today Invisalign costs about the same as braces did a decade ago, so regular braces are probably cheaper than that now.
It's expensive, yes, but they make a change that lasts for the rest of your life. Well worth it to avoid potential problems and boost confidence. Thanks guys. While $6,000 is outrageous, it seems to be the "norm" for braces.
My friend's employer's dental plan also paid $2,000 of the $6,000 cost. She works in marketing so appearance is important (we humans are so shallow).Had some installed around 18 months ago to fix an issue (in my 50's), cost in west end Toronto was $7K.... I go in every 6-8 weeks...had to get my BITE back...benefits paid around $2k for it....rest was all me.
