Brian Wilson, co-creator of iconic 1960s band the Beach Boys, dies aged 82

"We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away," his family said in a statement.

Not trying to sound heartless or anything, but I'm kind of amazed he lived as long as he did.

John Cusack did a beautiful job portraying Brian in the 2014 movie Love & Mercy.

Makes one wonder if Brian had access to the help mental health of today if it would make him well or would affect his musical genius. I always wondered about that.

There's a great story about Brian Wilson and John Lennon.

In the early 1970s, John Lennon, Alice Cooper and a few others were having a drink at a club in L.A.. Brian Wilson suddenly appeared, tapped Alice Cooper on the shoulder and whispered, "Can you please introduce me to John Lennon?"

Alice Cooper was shocked. He couldn't believe Brian Wilson and John Lennon had never met .... that it would be him who had the honour of introducing them.

"OK, sure," Alice Cooper said, pointing at John Lennon. "Brian, this is John Lennon. John, this is Brian Wilson."

The two shook hands and Lennon said, "Hi Brian, it's very nice to meet you. I'm a huge fan of your music. Please join us," and the two continued to chat for a bit.

After they were leaving the club,, Alice Cooper said to Lennon, "I can't believe you had never met Brian Wilson!"

John replied, "Oh, I've known him for years. He's not well, you know."

Despite Lennon having a penchant for being mean and sarcastic with people, it shows he also had a softer side.

Lennon became less mean after he kicked Delaudid, it's the actual reason The Beatles broke up.

Sew The Beach Boys earlier this year in Mississauga, Mike Love was the main guy, Brian couldn't make it, still a really great show.

Sad that both Brian and Sly were brilliant for about 10 years and then got messed up in the head, but still lived long lives.
