I am just shaking my head at the responses.
My only comment is re: Obama.
The man was raised by a white family in a white neighbourhood and went to white schools. And he is half white.
Further, the fact that he was voted POTUS is because he had oodles of cash and ran against an erratic old fart who chose the Wasilla Hillbilly to run with him. Under normal circumstances i.e. the opponents were normal politicians he would have lost. People think that America has turned a corner. Nope, not yet. And by the looks of the posts above, Canada has a ways to go too.
Doesn't change the Fact that a Black Man was elected Potus. His RACE was Not a barrier. People genuinely like him & believe in him. The main barriers nowdays for Everyone are education, support, family status, $ & Mostly Attitude.
Sure, it doesn't change the fact that the average black kid won't become much of anything, let lone Potus. However the SAME Thing can be said of the average White kid. The only significant barriers to the average black kid to success is the same as the whites. However the Main difference is that blacks are a minority. I believe most Blacks tend to be left behind is that they themselves believe they are going to be marginalized by the majority so they set thier expectations & attitudes accordingly.
White kids sometimes try to use race as a reason to explain thier failures, but as whites are the majority it is widely seen as the copout that it is, & people tell them to stop whining. My hope is that now that the last rational ceiling seen by all has been breached by a black man, it will be "skys the limit" attitude wise... I hope that now, decent blacks & whites will be more apt to tell the race card dealers to STFU & point out that no one is holding ANYone back except themselves. There are always going to be some who cling to racism as an excuse to act like lower life form. Human beings are comprised of few winners & a whole lot of losers. Always has been, & until they stop them from eating & breeding it always will be.
Rightly put that we have a long way to go. And bleeding heart Apologists for every form of human failing & thier endless quest to make the able drag along all that dead weight is whats holding the HUMAN race back.
