I have not been tent camping for like 20 yrs. I kinda remember the rates were around $15/night for a tent site with elec hookup & water way back then.

I am wanting to go camping this year just for H of it and looking at the rates/night for a tent site looks more like a motel rate. I have seen prices like $50-$75/night for a small plot and they need a 2-3 night booking min.

Anyone know of any good campgrounds that are a good rate/night. Areas such as Wasaga beach, 1000 Islands, Niagara would be nice.

I used to go to Tudhope just outside of orillia and they had showers etc. it wasn't too bad.

I'd do a search under tourism ontario, there will be hundreds of sites listed. If you want better sites stick with provincial parks.

National/Provincial parks are usually reasonable price with good facilities and have nicer spots for tenters. A lot of commerical campgrounds cater to the RV crowd, leaving the worst spots for people with tents and not spending money on things like showers and toilets.

Try Killbear Provincial Park, it is beautiful. A good camp ground area is Lighthouse....quieter...other sites are fine too, but Lighthouse is just an old fav. Good luck! Don't feed the bears!

For Niagara, check out Yogibear/Jellystone, or King Waldorf. Waldorf is a little closer to stuff but neither is really in the hub of things....except Waldorf is close to Marineland and Cirque Niagara for tourism.

Scarborough
They are about 20 to 25 bucks per night with electric hook up depending on the size of the lot of course.
