Well, my dog is a great non-sexual companion for me too. Catch 22: she doesn't like doing it either, so we've kinda been in a stalemate for years. In this same conversation last week, she came out as bisexual! It's a side of her that she hasn't had the opportunity to explore in her life, and I think that sucks.

The dust is still settling since our heavy roommate conversation, and we haven't yet said the words 'open relationship' or 'polyamory' yet. But I kinda hope that's the direction we're heading. I love her so so so much, and I want her to be happy and sexually satisfied. I'm going to tell her about this introspection I've had, and how I want her to get laid! And, if she's fortunate, maybe with a woman. It would bring me so much joy if that made her happy. I recall hearing a psychologist on some podcast once talking about how, especially in this capitalist society that we've built where we don't have time for lots of friends and loneliness is on the rise - we therefore expect/need our partner to facilitate all manner of relationships. Whether it's the relationship with whom you watch sports with, or the relationship with whom you raise children with, or have sex with... and so many more kinds of relationships - it's a lot to ask one person to accommodate all needs. So, ya, if she and I can't be sexual partners, I think that should be okay and we should find that elsewhere.
