I was re-watching the classic 80s film Back to the Future last week. We think of it as a wholesome family film but in it the mother wants to date her own son. Is this entirely normal, if someone is somehow removed or detached from that family member? Let's say a father impregnates his wife then leaves and has no idea who his daughter is as she grows up, and voila, 18 years later he comes across her at a grocery store. He does not know she is related. Is it unlikely or more likely for him to be sexually attracted to her?
I ask also because sometimes I've notice couples that look alike as if they could be siblings, even though they're not. Are they blind to this or do they enjoy being with an opposite sex version of themselves? It's also not uncommon to hear people say they married their spouse because they "reminded them of [mom or dad]". Ugh. I have peers that have married individuals that truly resemble their opposite sex parent. It's so bizarre.
Many folks on TERB are probably in the above mentioned type of relationships.
