Israel's family law system for Israeli Muslims is sharia, it is not some big deal.
It certainly winds up being at odds with a Canadian secular conception of family law, but not everybody wants our way of doing things.
There are already sharia compliant banks, Halal foods are widely available. I certainly wouldn't choose to live in a sharia jurisdiction, but lots of Muslims do want to.
Again, I come back to this is why there are multiple countries in the world. We can do things our way, and they can do things their way. So long as a basic foundation of human rights and democracy is upheld, that diversity is a good thing.
