you want to make a bet on Carney wining next election?

"I spend half of my money on women and booze

the other half I wasted"
A very fine George Best quote.

Actually, I never made any prognostications because I don't pretend to know the outcome. It was you who seemed so certain of the outcome. As such, I was only inquiring as to the depth of your convictions. My point, was that if you felt so certain of the outcome, it would be illogical of you to not earn some guaranteed and risk free money. Have you bet?

You'll need to define "The powers of the office of the Prime Minister" before this can go any further.
Whatever the definition is, they are the same whether a PM is elected or appointed. There are not different classes of Prime Ministers. The PM is the PM.

Ya, so let's see what a actual platform looks like. Him and his new Finance are already promising to balance the budget.

So are we looking at another austerity govt, with cuts to provincial health transfers like last time? Is that what some of you are rooting for?

An un-elected Prime Minister is kind of toothless if he cannot rebut questions and comments in Parliament.

My work is done here. I'm unsubscribing to this thread.

That only renders the opposition toothless. At some point parliament needs to be reopened to pass legislation and approve new spending measures.

I think the quote is from WC Fields

I just skipped the gambling part because I don't gamble

“I spent half my money on gambling, alcohol and wild women. The other half I wasted.”

― WC Fields
I'm learning a lot today. Obviously W.C. came first, but this was the oldest version I'd previously heard:

If that were true then we wouldn't have poor people or homeless.
This is a thing people miss. American Christianity is founded in Puritanism. Being poor is a moral failing and all that.

The teachings of Jesus are left of Marx, but Christianity has corrupted it into a tool of oppression.

Current American Christianity is largely a grift. Prosperity gospel bullshit spits on the teachings of Jesus, and serves only to enrich pastors.

Disagree.
Trudeau is responsible for all of the Liberal policies.
He is the boss and it's on him to oversee all of his ministers.
He stood up in parliament and defended whatever cracker jack ideas his ministers came up with.

Put it to you this way. The top dog takes all the responsibility for people underneath him.
Just like the police chief takes all the shit when officers fuck up.
Have you ever seen a serious industrial accident where the company bosses don't get dragged in front of the courts?
I believe his stepping down is accountability being forced on him.
I don't think that criticism should be transferred to Carney.
