I already explained it to you lol.https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c994e312ev5o Firstly the deadline was set by TRUMP and secondly Carney said they would not settle for a bad deal.
Literally in the first paragraph:

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has said his country "will not accept a bad deal" simply to reach a trade agreement with the US, as a deadline of 1 August looms before US President Donald Trump begins to impose new tariffs.
But thanks for reminding me, Carney's deadline was originally July 21st. If a deal was not met, counter tariffs would be leveraged. How'd that work out? :ROFLMAO:

You're ridiculous.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c994e312ev5o Its Trump that set the deadline to apply pressure and people like you that believe the Conservative bots that Carney set it. You must be really bad at negotiations.
Actually Trump extended the deadline to Aug 1. Carney's original date was July 21st.

Even up to today what has he got done? Hired more of his Corporate friends to steal money out of Canada?

So there was no good deal so he's doing as he said he would do.
What's the problem?

I agree with you in that Carney promised an Elbows Up approach to this situation which he has not followed through with.

Carney’s response to this was that there are times to go into the corner aggressively with elbows up while other moments in the game call for speed and finesse. I understand that idea but I don’t see what has changed that would lead Carney to think this is the moment that Trump is open to a deal that is favourable to Canada.

Overall, though, my view is that we elected Carney specifically because we trusted him to deal with this situation so let’s just give the man a chance and see what he does with it.

as a deadline of 1 August looms before US President Donald Trump begins to impose new tariff.

SO Trump set the deadline of Aug 1 and threatened new tariffs to pressure on Carney. Your reading and comprehension ability is HIGHLY QUESTIONABLE 🙄

No, your understanding of the issue is limited.

The original date was July 21st. Trump extended it to Aug 1st.

“In our negotiations on a new economic and security relationship between Canada and the United States, Canada’s new government will always be guided by the overall contribution of any possible agreement to the best interests of Canadian workers and businesses. Today’s announcement will support a resumption of negotiations toward the July 21, 2025, timeline set out at this month’s G7 Leaders’ Summit in Kananaskis.

- The Rt. Honourable Mark Carney,
Prime Minister of Canada
Right now, you better pray Carney does good because I am going to tear you apart Nov 4th.

All deadlines are from Trump. He is the one putting tariffs on, something you don't get. I don't mind if we don't get a deal from the USA, Carney can do all kinda things including setting up supply management on oil exports to the USA. Yes I hope he does well, but I don't expect anything as he is negotiating with a murderous lunatic rapist, who is a pathological liar as well. So its really best to have no expectations and focus on a Canada that lesser ties to the USA and all those amazing Chinese EVs we will be getting instead of the US trash. You can't tear me apart, you can't tear a 12 year old kid apart lol

We don't know what prompted this meeting with Trump, if Carney requested it or if Trump requested it. I suspect Carney trips to the UNGA, EU and Mexico were to compare notes review trade alliances shore up relationships so he can formulate what options Canada has in terms of future direction and if we have enough leverage. So we shall see.\

This is all we know from the PMO:

Today, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, announced that he will travel to Washington, D.C., United States of America, on the evening of October 6, 2025, ahead of a working visit and meeting with the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, on October 7.

Canada and the U.S. each launched consultations last month that will inform preparations for the first joint review of CUSMA. The Prime Minister’s working visit will focus on shared priorities in a new economic and security relationship between Canada and the U.S.

VERY low or NO expectations for this meeting. But I think Carney is gonna tell Trump, he will work in directions that deliver results, and if that is not the USA then we will have to work in other directions. Or maybe he got a copy of a vid from Epstein Island. lol.

So what? You want tariffs in Canada? It's a tax you ninny. We pay it.

Instead the grassroots boycott in progress is far more effective. Meanwhile, the actual negotiations by real diplomats has been going on. That's the reality of how it ACTUALLY works. Not the stupid social media declarations that Trump loves. The leaders only really show up to sign it, and take credit.

your logic does not tie together

What do you think PeePee could have done that would be better at this point?
(besides tax cuts and service cuts, which seems to be all you ever want)

I'd say his 55+ approval rating says otherwise. There is resignation to a longer drawn out process and having to deal with Trump bring an ass.

Trump would be an ass no matter who is in charge. Seriously you think he would play nice with PP? Either PP would fight and Trump would act the ass, or PP would capitulate and you would say he had no choice "for the good of the nation".

Trump is under pressure now. It's not going to get better for him.

You will always give a Liberal the benefit of the doubt. That's the real problem.

First it was he was just elected give him time, now it's just 6 month give it time. We'll roll into 2 years and you will say just give it time. It's a pipe dream.

Until the IMF has to help bail Canada out, you will not admit failure. And even after that you will still make excuses.

You tell me, where do we put our elbows now.

Carney will give you crumbs and you'll tell everyone it was a grand feast. You have no expectations for the Liberal government.

That's why Justin could rip us off and fuck us over and get away with it. It's because you have no expectations for a Liberal.
