In this case so what? Trump is always spoiling for a public fight in the WH where he is safe and surrounded by yes men. Carney let him rant(I tried listening to him, cripes he may be in dome cognitive decline). I'm sure he said what needed to be said in private.

As I said. Now the trade delegates will meet, go line by line, and wait until Trump blinks, or we find new markets. Those are the options now.
Carney was trying to talk but was getting dominated by Trump. He didn't let him rant, He couldn't jump into the conversation.

I just don't like how Mr. Elbows Up sold himself as the only one to stand up to Trump and he did what any other leader would do. Maybe less.

Carney knows what needs to be done to appease Trump...he's got too much investment n the US to pissed Trump off...They can definitely work together... as Trump expected. This is a good thing. Canada partnering with the US will force China to cave in... Trump and Carney is a good North America combo...this will also force Mexico to secure the border on their end...it's a win-win-win.
Interesting way of framing it. But, I don't think that's the way this is going to play out. Trump has quickly isolated himself on the trade front. He's leaning too far out in front of his skies, and is going to do a header...unless he pulls back. I think blowing smoke up Trump's ass is always a good strategy, one that sort of makes me gag....But, if Carney can end the tariff nonsense this way, then so be it. I think Carney could work with anyone who was reasonable....And Trump can, on occasion, be reasonable....

But, the reality here is that Trump NEEDS to save face. His great tariff experiment hasn't really hit the average American. Yet. But, he's already painting a picture of more expensive goods and empty shelves. How will people outside his cult react to that? What can he do to walkback the bullshit with China and the rest of the world. He likely is lying about the number of countries begging to make a deal (I'm sure some have tried, but I doubt its over 15), so we'll need to see what happens down the road.

All that being said, I'm not sure how much Carney wants to deal with China, so this could work out as you say. Canada and the US have been good neighbours for over a century. Trump has poisoned that well...and, that basically means he either fixes shit, or we aggressively look to other markets like Europe or Asia. I'm sure there is demand for oil and natural gas...or wood and rare earth minerals.

but you had a problem with Danelle Smith being diplomatic with Trump

you do not proof read what you post
you start by by saying no concerns Carney is going to back down or capitulate.
no concerns, 100% confident, its in the bag Carney wont capitulate

but then you finish with
but we'll see how that all shakes out
i,e. you do not know how this will end, you do not have a clue what is going to happen, nothing is certain

just useless blither from you
LOL

You are so funny. It's like you have no capacity for critical thinking. Which, I think we all know is true. You pretend that you're some intellect, but all you post is the same inane drivel about failed ideologies and liberal bad. Keep it up. I find it very amusing.

Except that trump has surrounded himself with sycophants and yes men.
They will keep telling him how smart and successful he is and how great the orange looks until they abandon ship and cash out.

He's still talking about how tariffs will replace income tax and he can kill the IRS.

Is that why ever world leader out there including our PM is still visiting the WH? Why is it that every president and PMs visit the WH?

]And there is quite simply nothing that can be done about that. Except wait for Trump to drop the Tariffs. He has repeatedly stated nothing will drop them. So any sort of call that Carney isn't capitulating is just wrong.
i never said Carney is or isn't capitulating
i just pointed out we can not afford to wait 18 months

here is Trumps leverage vs Canada
  • Canadas economy is 2/3 trade dependant
  • 3/4 of Canadas trade is with the US
  • The US economy is 2/3 domestic consumption
  • 17 to 20% of US trade is with Canada
he can wait us out

There will also be a very long line of US businesses as well. And other nations too.
  • The US economy is 2/3 domestic consumption

Trump is literally trying to tank the world economy.
no he is not trying to tank the world economy.
he is risking tanking the world economy. , but that is not his objective
he is a lot of things , many of which are despicable / repulsive, but he is not stupid

So be it. It either gets resolved, or in the long run businesses adjust to the new reality.
there is a trade deal , he loves to do deals
so for Canada the question is
  1. do you do a deal giving up some concessions on supply management while getting concessions on softwood lumber and saving our auto sector or
  2. wait it out knowing our economy will permanently shrink
if we do not get a deal preserving our auto sector, Trump will steal a huge chuck of it via lower corporate tax rates over 4 years and tariff uncertainty over 18 months
if Carney implements an industrial Carbon tax,/ carbon import tariffs the Auto makers will shift production to the US at an even faster pace like as in lets get the hell out of there.
the implications of waiting it out for debt laden Ontario will be devastating (i.e. possibly provincial govt insolvency >>>> Health care Funding)

you just post total nonsense rhetoric without ANY substance
argue the facts or run away

your critical thinking is limited to dogmatic ideology i.e. 'what does the left say' ?
the last original thought you had was as a child

Carney should not have agreed to a public forum like that.
He had to know Trump would turn it into a circus where Trump would dominate him

Carney was able to make the point :Canada is not for sale
To his credit, I suspect the 51st state rhetoric will start to fade.
That said, as you point out he did what any other leader would do.
yet far short of what he sold himself on in the election

thus far , I am not seeing the justification for 4 more years of the corrupt liberal party

Hey El Risitas, larue seems to be calling you foolish in your support of trump.
Can't right wingers get along any more?

What is trump's new plan?
Does he have one?

What makes you think I'm a right winger?
You have no originality...you watch these legacy media stuff, listen to democrat / liberal unhinge tweets that's so far off reality and think you can apply it to your life... you try to pit me with another terb like larue... you just try to follow what the democrats do...they tried to pit Trump against Elon, that didn't work... you need to work on your style son... you're going to keep crying since your best bet is AOC and Jasmine Crocket... How's your "maryland man" doing?

Are you arguing that being MAGA isn't being right wing?

Hey, I heard of a new business opportunity in MAGA.
Sound like something you'd be interested in?

Though on second thought, likely the white supremacists think she's hot and would never send money to an ugly latino like El Risitas.

YES, NATO would. Also, fuck the USA, and no one asked an Americunt like yourself to join the conversation.

stop letting your emotions / biases prevent you from logical thinking
No NATO would not go against the United States.
cooler heads would prevail

Canada does need the US as a trading partner , pretending we do not is beyond illogical
calling other Canadians " Americunts," just display you as an irrational fool

i suggest you cool off

Are you now declaring you don't support trump?

What will that leave you?
