cant do too much to end the embargo would take an act of congress to alter/repeal and its not a priority now and might not pass a vote anyways

You do not know what you are missing if you have not visited Cuba as yet. You will not get that level of safety in many of the USA neigbourhoods after dusk.
Maybe when you have a walker in a few decades time then you could be visiting a "free Cuba'!!
I lived in real socialism, don't need to vacation, there. Costa Rica, Bahamas, Florida, etc. are very nice and safe as well and I don't have to vomit seeing the "revolutionary" propaganda.
I have also been to all those places. No way that Costa Rica or Bahamas is as safe. But I have travelled to numerous countries around the world and Cuba is definitely the safest of all of them. It is the cheapest and best value as a hobbyist by far!!
Strongest opponent of closer relations with Cuba are expatriate Cubans in the U.S. and they vote.

We give them gifts that they are grateful for. Anything wrong with that? What the hell do you think is going on with the women who also come from the poor destitute nations to Canada and then offer the same services to make a living?
Contrary to what you believe, the Cubans are contented to receive all the meagre benefits and do not complain about their lifestyle.
Try going there to see if they think that they are in prisons like you are mislead to believe!!

Privately they can tell you whatever they desire. Some have privately told me their feelings of the Government and many of them have stated that they are contented not to have the Americans holidaying there, but they love The Canadians.
There are no policeman monitoring what they say to tourists. If there are complaints brought by the tourists against any crimes that they try to commit is when they are really in the shit!!
