Actually still very commonly used for truckers. If you travel on highways it is a great way to find out where radars are set up and for where you might encounter trouble I.E.accidents or road hazards. Can also be helpful if you are lost in a city.

Here and there
I've been using CB since the late '70's, but the "10-4 good buddy" days are gone. Most truckers don't talk in "code" anymore. It's great when travelling on major highways to know where cops are, what major construction spots are ahead and how to avoid 'em. My small unit's paid for itself many times over in the last few decades.

And during lousy weather, you can always count on some trucker to warble, "Ah doan care if it rains or freezes, long as ah gots my plastic Jesus, sittin' here on the dashboard of mah truuuck..."

Great entertainment.

Have you ever noticed that you will never see a guy with a CB Radio in an import? Makes you wonder.
