You literally said switch out 3 seats for 2. Thats what business class is. And the fat ones need that extra leg room to get in and move past.

There is no right to fly. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it.
Next you're going to say, that blind people who need to be accompanied by a service dog, have no right to fly either. Reason being, the service dog might take up too much extra space, or the dog making too much noise, which might disturb the other passengers.

Than said fat man has options: 1) lose weight in order to fit into one seat; 2) hope that the space next to him is empty or the person is a small person/extremely gracious and does not make it obvious the discomfort the fat man his causing him 3) take an alternative form of transportation 4) save up a little more until he can buy the second seat or 5) bribe the unfortunate seat buddy next to him to keep his mouth shut about him overflowing onto the seat next to him.
If you watch some Ozempic videos on you tube, a lot of weight loss Doctors are now saying, that some fat people are genetically pre-disposed to not being able to lose weight through diet and exercise alone. That's where Ozempic and Wegovy, come in. A fat person should just have to pay for one seat like everyone else.

In order for "a fat person should just have to pay for one seat like everyone else" to ring true, said fat person would need to remain in their assigned seat and not take up the space for their neighbors. Perhaps this is an airline issue in not designing their seats/spacing better. But when said fat person encroaches on the space of others, it's going to be problematic for a lot of people. I don't think those that paid for a full seat to end up with 3/4 of a seat or, in some cases 1/2, is anything close to fair.

I don't consider obese people disabled.

What if a fat person can afford to buy one seat, like everyone else, but not two seats?
I think that is defined as......can't afford it. Go business class, or stay home. There is no "right" to fly. Poor people can't fly. Whatever their size.

The airlines should start realizing that at least 50% of US citizens are considered obese. Airlines should stop trying to cut costs to please their shareholders, and instead re-adjust their airplane configurations, in order to accommodate fat people. The obesity problem is only going to get worse.

Only if it doesn't mean more expensive prices. I'm not paying more for a seat because fatso decides he wants to go on a plane. With ozempic and similar drugs now available, the obese have less and less excuses not to trim down. Sometimes a little fat shaming is all that is needed to spark meaningful change.

The problem is being on Ozempic is more expensive then paying for a flight. Would you shame a blind person flying with a service dog? According to your logic, why should blind people be allowed to fly, as they can't see anyway.

What happens if a fat person can't afford to buy two seats. Southwest for sure will get sued, if they decide to implement this policy. I predict a mass class-action lawsuit taken on by a big law firm who will fund the case on a contingency basis.
Then they don't fly on that airline and look for a cheaper alternative.
There are many things one cannot afford at all times.

No one is banning them. It's no different than going on a roller coaster.

Maybe they should alter their seat allocation computers and sit fat people next to young kids and babies - those kids dont need that much space anyway. It all averages out then too.

My biggest worry is that there was a Mayday show that showed a plane crash because the plane was too heavy - it was a small plane - like a turborporp - but they said they based their weights balances calculations on average weights from the 60s and people have changed a bit since then. They should start weighing people when you get on the plane
Modern large commercial airliners can carry a lot of weight. So someone being overweight isn't going to be as much of an issue as it would if it were a small turboprop plane.

Am I missing any?
The people who open the window to look outside during day time when the entire cabin is dark. That one especially gets me. Sigh.

So then every passenger, fat or skinny, should be required to pay for two seats.
Why? It isn't fair to the skinny person to be inconvenienced with half a seat when they paid for a full seat.
So requiring a fat person to buy 2, or requiring them to buy a business class seat, would ensure everyone is comfortable.
Granted this costs the fat person more, but it is the best solution for the problem.
