You don't have the basis facts straight, and are ignoring the underlying issue. ABC /Disney corporations did not initially suspend the show. Nexstar did. Nexstar is a partner in several local ABC afilliate (franchise) stations, Nexstar does not own Disney, nor ABC. Each local ABC station is a franchise owned by a group of investors.
Nexstar is in the process of buying into 65 more local ABC franchise partnerships. This requires FCC approval. Nexstar is applying for an exemption to the anti-monopoly laws that would prevent it.
The Trump loyalist FCC Chairman posted a Xeet suggesting the Kimmel show be taken off the air.
Same situation as Colbert show and the multi-billion dollar merger requiring the FCC Sirector over-riding the regulations, It is a highly discretionary decision.
Nexstar is looking out for its financial interests in response to the FCC Chairman's implied threat.
Trump has said on multiple occasions that if elected he will seek revenge against those who have spoken out against him, personally. Not against the country, against him personally. And he has said he would even consider taking away their broadcast licenses.
That has far more far reaching and fundamental implications than any single TV show being cancelled. Or owning the libs.

Now yo'u're just reaching...If Nexstar is reluctant to do the merger because they don't like what they're seeing with the show, it's ABC's prerogative what to do on their part to get the deal done. Jimmy can still speak out against Trump, he just have to look for a platform to do it...this is no different from Joy Reid and Don Lemon getting fired.
With MAGA controlling the FCC there will be no platforms that will allow criticism of dear leader soon.

They simply reacted to the FCC Chairman's comments and demand by suspending their affiliate stations from broadcasting the show.
Nexstar is in the process of seeking the FCC's discretionary approval for this acquisition/merger. Is it any surprise that they don;t want to risk it.
But there was no evidence FCC will not approve their merger application. Nexstar wasn't strong-armed to pull out the show in 65 of their channels...they did it themselves...and ABC suspended the show indefinitely themselves...the show is tanking because it is no longer a "talk show", it was a political mouthpiece for the left and it has not been funny for quite some time...there was a paradigm shift on the audience, JRE and podcasts have taken a huge piece of their audience...Theo Von, Shane Gillis etc etc...Craig Ferguson was the best of those talk shows because he wasn't political. Jimmy Fallon saw the writing on the wall so he mellowed down...
