Mine is 95GB cap but I hear ya. Bunch of ass holes as this use to be all you can eat. I use to download 3TB / month.eldoguy said:You need to be carefull, 60GB, per month of useage is capped from Rogers, Bell. If you go over its costs a fortune!
Check out Teksavvy.com for both broadband and land line service. 200Gb/month bandwith for $30. "May not be the cheapest but it's a good deal and the service is excellent," said a current customer.nottyboi said:What is the cheapest broadband service available in the GTA?
TIA
I dumped Teksavvy ADSL because anything controlled by bell is throttled meaning things like P2P apps (torrents) are 5% of the intended speeds. I was able to get around this using Rogers cable hi-speed.SpaClient said:Check out Teksavvy.com for both broadband and land line service. 200Gb/month bandwith for $30. -Bell has a $10 prepaid package that has unlimited mobile browsing
-Get a used HTC touch
-Flash it with a modded firmware
-tether it to your comp with usb/bluetooth
-surf on your comp using the phone as a modem
-the modded firmware makes the data look like mobile browsing so you do not get charged extra.
My download speed is about 1Mbps and 300kps upload.
I only recommend using the prepaid option so that bell does not have your credit card on file also give them a fake name and address when you setup the prepaid account, if they find something fishy you could be on the hook for thousands of bucks if they have your CC info.
I only use this when I am on the go. At home I have accanac, $20 a month for unlimited DSL.
Yup, I'm annoyed at the throttling as well. However, as the speed reduction only seems to apply to P2P between 4pm and 2am, I can get around the issue by using the scheduler in my torrent client. Other forms of file transfer (ftp, etc.) seem unaffected. Here's hoping that the CRTC will revisit the throttling issue and rule in favour of net neutrality.Radio_Shack said:I dumped Teksavvy ADSL because anything controlled by bell is throttled meaning things like P2P apps (torrents) are 5% of the intended speeds. You might want to get that in writing from Rogers before you assume it will only be $25 max over your limit. This is not documented anywhere, for good reason I guess.eldoguy said:Mia thanks for the info. Rogers $25 max over the 60 gb cap. They seem to be the better deal presently!
