Did anybody watch that last night? I just want to know what other people think when Ramirez hit that homerun, watched it and pointed to HIS dugout....

and the commnetators were ripping him, saying there is no need for that in the game...how is that so bad??

And how you can lose, what, 9 games in a row in which you could have clinched the series?

Man Ram is a meathead.....always has been, always will be. One of life's cruel jokes is that he had to be the one that hit the clutch dinger. Wish it had been Nomar.....now that is a class act.

Hdog, I agree with your sentiments but the better scenario is to hope the Sox beat the Yankees and make it to the Series.....and then have the Cubs beat them in game 7, hopefully on an error by Man Ram. The jinx continues!

Hdog, what would you rather see happen to the Sox, the team you despise with spitting hatred. Have them lose to the Yankees in the ALCS or have them get oh so close to the promised land and them lose to the Cubs (please not the Marlins) in the World Series. Yes, yes, I know they are not likely to get past the Yanks, but suspend reality for a moment and answer the question.

Hdog, I'm disappointed. This is fantasy land, you can risk anything in fantasy land and I think the better fantasy is to see the Sox get so damn close, so close they can taste it, and then have it snatched away from them by the other perennial *****. Also what is driving me is an even deeper hatred of the Yanks and I would love to see the Sox stick it to them in the ALCS.

The only thing that keeps me from truly hating the Red Sox as much as you do is Nomar. Wish he was on another team. What a ball player! Look in the dictionary under the word "gamer" and "class act" and you would see a picture of Nomar.

I would be so completely happy to have the Cubs and the Sox go into the bottom of the 9th in game 7, Sox up by 3, and sit back and watch the inevitable Sox bullpen collapse - walk off homer by Sosa, a la Joe Carter in '93.

That, or have them get blown out in four straight ...

Course, either scenario means I also get the little frisson of joy from the Sox knocking Clemens out of the playoffs in his final year.

What I couldn't believe was the last two outs for the A's were strikeouts and they both went down looking!!!! That's fucking bullshit. I'd be kicking there ass for standing up there with their bat on their shoulder like that. After 162 fucking games, you make it to the playoffs, which is hard enough in baseball, then you actually take a lead in the series, then watch it slowly slip away, then 9th inning, you have the bases loaded, a looper to the outfield would at least tie it, and you don't at least take a cut at it? Puh-lease. They deserved to lose!

The Yankees - Red Sox series will be determined by the bats of the Red Sox. If Boston hits like they did against Oakland, then the Yanks have the series no problem. But if Boston's bats are lively, the Yanks are toast. As Joe Torre pointed out after having been blown out two straight games by the Sox in September, "You can't win a slugfest against the Red Sox, you have to outpitch them."
The Yanks won the season series against Boston 10 games to 9. not exactly an overwhelming record.
It'll be an interesting ALCS...

I'm sorry but i feel a need to voice my opinion on the above. And me being born and raised in Atlanta i am sure you can fucking understand why.

Imagine us winning as many consecutive division titles as we have, and having 1 fucking ring to show for it. It makes me sick.

The A's could become the Braves of the 90s, but thats maybe a stretch...The Braves have won what, 12 straight division titles? I dont if Oakland pull that off with that tight budget, unlike Atlanta...but there are some parallells there...I mean Atlanta had the big 3, Smoltz/Glavine/Maddux and Oakland has Zito/Mulder/Hudson, if they can keep those guys you'd think they'd win eventually...

as for the NLCS, come on that game 1 was awesome last night! Sosa tying it in the bottom of the 9th 2 out was surreal! Even though I'd rather see the Cubs win, you have to give the Marlins credit, after that 97 debacle where they unloaded everyone, they built this current team pretty much through drafting and trades, with the exception of Pudge....now if only the Leafs could build through drafting, like Ottawa....but hey thats a whole new can of worms
