Anybody going? I have not been in years. Should they still have the air show considering the number of crashes in other air shows? BTW: The parking lot across the street is charging $30 for parking which I think is outrageous.

I go every year. I make 2 or 3 short half-day trips with different friends and family to wander the food building and win some cheesy prizes at the midway. It's just part of the summer routine as a torontonian.

I have no interest other than an occasional airshow. When I was a kid - you could take a buck or two into the Food building and eat like a king. Lots of free samples and inexpensive food. The last time I was in there the food was expensive, most of it unhealthy greasy concoctions that bordered dares instead of fine cuisine. (Eg: fried burger, dipped in ice cream covered in poutine, whip cream on an edible plate of lard).

I like to keep my golden memories untainted by the new reality.

Check out who's playing at the Bandshell. I believe park admission includes access to the concerts.

I went this year and especially enjoyed the skating show. On top of featuring Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, they combined the skating with acrobatics. The show alone was worth the admission IMHO. Also enjoy just walking around seeing the various exhibitors and playing some of the Midway games.

I agree with one of the comments above about food being expensive.

So close and yet so far.
I still go every year, although it is certainly not the value it used to be. It's pretty much just a big flea market now, that you have to pay an arm and a leg to park and enter. But I have a kid and it's part of her summer before going back to school. And usually one of the concerts is enough incentive to go--this year is no exception.

I take my backpack and load up

CNE is a great shopping experience

No telling what you will see, hear or find

Already spent $200 and saw Chubby Checker and will go at least once more

CNE is just south of Liberty Village. I found that out when I went looking for the Beer Store in Liberty Village a couple of weeks ago. I like the Air Show (amazing how close they fly to each other) but some people want it banned because of the noise and risks.

On top of yo mama!
i think i will go this year. its been at least 10 years since i have been there. i used to go as a kid every year in grade school. Our family could never afford/have the time to go anywhere so it became our summer vacation for the most part. Ahhh memories. will probably take the ttc however as i dont feel like being gorilla raped by the parking lots.

Heard they had to close an hour early on "Youth Day". Why can't youths behave themselves in public? What is wrong with them? They should have a "senior" day where anyone over age 45 will be given a free pass.

BTW: Paul Anka must be 75 years old now.

Downtown Toronto
As a non-native Torontonian.. I don't quite get the charm. I got dragged there this year, tried to take a cab, switched to street car then went back into a cab. Huge pain to get there, massive crowds, nothing particularly remarkable .. The food is mostly carnival food but some of the gourmet street food culture has clearly invaded - cocoa batter fried chicken, etc.

Spent a few hundred bucks, won a couple of prizes, wandered around the markets and consumed way too much calories and grease.. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't great. I'm also surprised at some of the people I see there, like straight out of American Midwest, >400lbs and in a motorized scooter.. :p
