Colonoscopy!

Ok fellow Terbies, Friday morning I have to have the dreaded Colonoscopy.
Whilst drinking the awful crap one needs to prior to this, I've been looking through the fine ladies here thinking I might want to reward my self after this procedure.

I get scoped at 8AM...how long does it take to feel "normal" again?? The literature says most people feel fine...but in reality what does that mean..lol!

So Far I've narrowed my choices to:

Angelina, from Eros Toronto,
Simone Jones
Nyomi Blue, who I adore
and Jennifer.

I want to have some fun after this nasty nasty start on Friday!!

Help me lads....what time would it be safe to book an appointment!

For me I would book something for Friday night after a very long nap. When I have mine done (once a year as a precaution) I get EXTREMELY tired.

Shitting takes a lot out of ya'

Well, I have had a few in my time and the LAST thing on my mind is getting some.....

As for "most people" they are whacked. It knocks the hell outta me and in recovery, I wasn't the only one. I read that previous column and saw the post about walking around afterwards...well, there was NO friggin way I was walking anywhere for about 4 hrs afterwards. Put it this way, each time they had me in a private room for the remainder of the day....

It depends a lot on your doc and how he performs it, if they knock you out, how much morphine they give you (actually, that's the best part! lol) etc. The first one I had the guy ripped me pretty good and I bled like a stuck pig for about 2 hrs...)

If I were you I'd book something for the next day.

yeah, col prep, isn't it just wonderful? My doc told me to put it in the fridge, helps with the taste...only problem is it goes through your system so fast it absorbed all my internal body temperature. I was sitting in a steaming hot bath and shaking so bad that I was making waves. I was so cold I am surprised I didn't go into hypothermic shock.

DON'T put it in the fridge.........

I hear you...I'm leaning towards a liesurely encounter on Sat at this point.

The Kleen Prep isn't that bad..and in my case I prefer it colder. It was the Phospho-soda I had to take last night that I could barely stomach.
The whole thing is just nasty. Important but nasty.

Besides since I've taken today and Friday off...I get to put together a MUST SEE list cause I can't go far away from the facilities! Found some pretty interesting ladies to see over the next while.

My doc recommended Pico-Salax™ which I found so mild I was afraid it wasn't gonna do the job at all. Apparently it did though, and everything came out fine.

I won't continue until you're quite finished. It is a serious medical matter.

I'd had the 2 litre 'drink it all down laxative', and the complicated 'a bottle of this, then some of that' regime (I guess things change if you're having the procedures two years apart) and this was the best.

Gotta say I'm w/ Mark on recovery therapy modalities, but given my schedule, I couldn't fit it in.

I'm not having any symptoms. This is merely a your 50 and you need one done procedure.

I would think that rectal bleeding. pain, naseau are all symptoms of problems in the lower GI tract.

I was told by my Doctor that even being tested when you reach 40 is ideal!

As for bleeding, pain, naseau, constipation etc....are not necessarily signs of colon cancer and be related to many other problems.

One VERY IMPORTANT TIP I recommend for everyone is to DETOX once a year and this is very important for the digestive system to clear all fecal matter and impurities the body has stored over a period of time, even YEARS!

Someone recommended this product http://www.aloeease.com/ from a Doctor who has studied all detox programs and this is by far the BEST!


You'd be surprised how much better you'll feel by changing your diet!

As I sit here...halfway through my 3 litres of Kleen prep..

Sub...I thear what you're thinking. But....the guy that said that is STILL alive...and the two hours he went through was worth it. His expierience also seems to be the exception to norm.

Early stages of colon cancer don't have symptoms, that's why the colonoscopy, you can see if you hve any polups which is the early stages of most colon cancers.

The procedure itself is not a big deal, the preparation for the test is the worst part,( no eating for a few days before and the flushing of the colon) but I would take that anyday over the suffering of full blown colon cancer .
Also I think a lot depends on your Doctor, I go to the Rudd Clinic for mine, and I have no complaints, no pain, no knocking you out, its a simple procedure and I'm on my way home in about an hour
Unless theres history in your family, 40 is probably OK, but its something that everyone should talk to their Doctor about

I did not regret going for one. I had a big polyp removed. The doctor said that it would have likely turned into cancer. This was a big wake-up call for me.

go to your doctor now and make the appointment. I don't care how old you are. A benchmark at 30 is better than a benchmark at 50. It takes a day of your time, and you'd probably waste that day anyway.
I've had one every year since I was 40, based on family history, and so far , all is good.
Like NIKE says... just do it

By the way, our ladies tend to take terrrific care of themselves with mammograms and pap tests... maybe we should be a bit more like them

Just because the name's so great, let me mention the Upper Canada Lower Bowel Clinic on St George. Well recommended by those who had their procedures there.

I guess our buddy Mark is getting scoped as we speak. Let's hope he has one of the better procedures instead of some of the experiences I've had.

By all means I don't and didn't mean to scare anyone from telling of my experiences, just wanted everyone to know that it isn't all peaches and cream and fun and games. I guess it all depends on the doc and ahem, how small your poopchute is.

mark: let us know how it went and see if you can get a copy of the tape dammit!

Yep..the name is a little odd!

The procedure went very smooth. Just a slight bit of discomfort. Clean bill of health is the outcome and the Doctor said he would schedule the next procedure in 5 years. Family Doctor may disagree with that amount of time, but the news is good and thats all that's important to me.

I do want to say thanks to all who posted yesterday.

Now comes the fun part! The REWARD!!

Got my list and I'm making appointments!
