I hear this little click each time I click on a link...and it clicks as the new page opens up..as usual...

But lately..the computer is slower....and I can leave the computer sitting for a long time and I seem to hear this steady clcik..as if someone had taken the mouse and clicked on a link.

But no one is NEAR the computer!!!!!!!

It is like there is this perpetual page clicking.....Not fast...but regular.

Any help? PLEASE!!!

Am I best to scrub and reload W7....

will that shake the viruses....???

Or is there a better way?

Call for a priest

I assume your Norton is up-to-date.

Downlload Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Run the scan and see if it catches anything.

Otherwise
Check what your System Sounds settings are.
Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Change System Sound

Edit: In the lower scroll box, it is under "Windows Explorer" -> Start Navigation.

This is a longshot but do you have an external hard drive on the unit? Mine is often exitting or entering a sleep mode and that makes a sort of clicking sound. If I kick the computer desk, that moves the mouse which wakes everything up and I hear the clicks.

If your hard drive clicks with many interactions, that is not a good thing to hear.

Or you could call the priest like a previous poster suggested. About 17% of the time, the problem is in fact supernatural possession.

I had a problem last year with a clicking drive. I should have backed it up immediately! Hard drive failed and I lost a lot of my photo library. Back it up and get the drive checked / replaced.

if the clicking sound is coming through the speakers then the problem is likely IE. and not a virus or reason for concern other than it is annoying. it can be disabled in sound settings
if the clicking sound is coming from inside the computer case then it's likely a HD issue, make sure you back up anything important to you. Drive failure could be imminent
