I'm sure this is not the right place to post this. I have a dlink router, It is hooked up to my pc computer downstairs and to my mom's laptop upstairs, my mom cant get onto the internet. I have no problem at all connecting to the net. Can anyone suggest what I can do to fix this or is there a website I can go to? Thanks for the help.

In that case, try turning off everything and then back on one at a time starting with your ISP modem (Rogers, Bell, etc.), then wireless router and computers. Make sure each and every one of them is online before turning on the next device.

could be many things. Is it a wired connection?
look for properly connected or bad cables.
bad card in computer or corrupted driver . someone set the permissions on the router .process of elimination .

My cheap few yr old router acted buggy last week. Laptop couldn't get online. All that was needed was a router reboot. I pulled the power plug to router and a minute later plugged it back in starting router up again and all runs fine again.

If nothing else works, bring your Mom's laptop downstairs and see if that helps. It sounds like you're on wireless - maybe she's just to far away or there's some interference on the signal, or sunspots or...

PS: Maybe you should be asking your Mom if you're allowed on this site? Just saying...

Makes sense. After all, it's software running back there. Sometimes it needs a kick.

What kind of laptop is it? My Sony has a little switch on the outside that actuallt turns off the wireless card to save battery if I am not in range of a router I ahve permision to use I ahve in the past turned this switch off by mistake before. Just a suggestion but worth a look.
