Computer Question

I live in Toronto and recently when I have gone on to porn sites, pop up messages have been coming up in the bottom right hand corner like you would get when you are messaged on MSN. That isn't the weird part. What is weird is that the generic message use to say something like "hey I am 20 F and in Toronto, want to meet up." Now it says Ottawa.

Also the Adult friend advertising that you see on a lot of sites shows photos of women and at the bottom of each photo it indicates Ottawa as well for all of them.

Why are these computer generated messages and images indicate Ottawa now and not Toronto?

I guess I am being a little paranoid that my computer was hacked?

Thanks in advance for any help.

No, your computer wasn't hacked. Don't worry overly about it. I have had ones pop up from all over the place - even Florida. It is just a consequence of perhaps your ISP re-routing through another locale.

The easiest thing to do about it? Start using "inprivate" or "private browsing" (can be found under tools for both IE and FF).

My isp is based in Quebec and all of these ads reflect that. They assume i am in Quebec as well.
