I have a friend over and their computer can't connect to my router.
The computer is a Acer with vista.
When we tried to connect it finds the router and all the bars are green but
still cannot connect.
I noticed it says unsecure network, does that have something to do with it
not allowing the connection?

If your wireless network card has a physical on/off switch, make sure it is turned on.Next, ensure your wireless network connection is enabled. To make sure your connection is enabled, go to the Start menu, open the Control Panel and select Network Connections. You should see a Wireless Network Connection listed.

If wireless is disabled, right-click on the icon and select Enable.

If the wireless network connection is already enabled, double-clicking on it will bring up a window showing a list of available networks or (if already connected to a network) the Status Window showing the strength of signal for the network that it is attached to.

Also check out this: enable the Wireless Zero Configuration startup

you can configure WZC in your desktop by following some simple steps:

1) type services.msc in "run" and enter. Under Vista you may have tu run under a DOS box.

2) select wireless zero configuration from the list which appears in the next window.

3) double click on that option , and do whatever setting you want to do..

If all that cheks out then goto a DOS window and type "ipconfig" and post your findings(cut paste output) here. Also do a "ipconfig /release" and then "ipconfig /renew" and post the output of that too..

Once you get this working I heavily recommend you enable the router wireless security using at least WPA security method or neighbors can steal your porn collection.

Unsecure network means your security is not turned on in your wireless router.
