A question for the phone guys here... are the VTech or Uniden cordless phones at Cdn Tire or Staples any good? I know they are not Panasonic, but are they reasonable value for the money?

I have both Vtech and Unidens all around the house and I've never had any problems.
I use the speaker function for conference calls all the time on the Vtechs. Again no issues.

I picked up a VTech for about 15 bucks with built in digital answering machine a few years ago at Xcess Cargo, works like a charm.

I have both Vtech and Unidens
So have I and think Uniden has slightly better sound quality.
Wasn't happy with the way Vtech sounded and took them back.

In my personal experience with cordless phones, I have had trouble with the cheap brands, so I stick to the premium brands like Sony or Panasonic and I am very happy with them.

I had a 900mhz Uniden phone for years. It is still going strong. V-Tech on the other hand sucked so hard I had to boomerang it back to the retailer.

I have Panasonic and Motorola at home, but want to get rid of the Motorolas. The batteries are no good and I don't need an expensive phone. I just need something fairly inexpensive and good.

I have never had any issues with Uniden. They have always worked flawlessly.

I had issues with a set from Vtech though, and the customer support sucked. The front page of the manual said, "IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES, PLEASE CALL VTECH CUSTOMER SUPPORT BEFORE RETURNING THE PRODUCT TO THE RETAILER."

I called, and someone in India wasted my time running me through sesame street level troubleshooting, only to tell me to return the items to the store.
