I was thinking of going to Costa Rica for vacation and will spend a few days in San Jose and was wondering if anyone had suggestions for hobbying and about the Hotel Del Rey. Sounds cool with a bunch of sexy SPs all there and a casino/poker room but wondered if it was actually that good. Also what are rates like there? Better staying at another hotel and just travelling to the hotel or is it more fun to stay there? Lastly how safe in San Jose? Thanks

When you reached San Jose, Costa Rica. Take a cab and go to Jaco, Costa Rica. The girls there are way better than Del Rey Hotel.
Hotel Del Rey is safe, but staying there is a noob option. The hotel will charge you a chica fee to take a girl to your room, last time I was in CR it was $10. The post above is fear mongering....I've been to CR 58 times & never had an issue. None of the girls are pimped, pimping is illegal in CR & comes with some pretty heavy penalties. San Jose is safe during the day as long as you don't stray far off the beaten path. At night, take a taxi everywhere, it's cheap. 2000 colones will get you pretty much anywhere you need to go. As for hotels, try La Amistad, Hotel Castillo, Sportsmen's Lounge. Staying at the Del Rey is convenient, but I say it's a rookie move because girls will give you crap service when they know they can go back down & find the next sucker right away.

Didn't stay there, but spent time there, didn't pay to take a girl away. Greatest thing was when I arrived at my hotel with my new friend the hotel desk clerk took her ID, which she got back AFTER they called my room and asked me if everything was good.. I didn't walk alone at night in the area around the Del Ray, took a cab everywhere. Got the cabbies number and used him for everything. He set me up one night for one of the best massage experiences I ever had..
