I've read quite a number of threads on here about Craigslist and how it sometimes doesn't quite measure up. But this article puts a whole new spin on it.

SAVAGE, Minn. — Police in Minnesota say an online ad may have cost a young woman her life.

They say Katherine Olson was last seen by friends when she went to meet someone about a nanny job posted on Craigslist.org, the Internet bulletin board.

A day later, her body was found in her car at a Minnesota nature preserve. Police declined to say how the 24-year-old was killed.

Authorities say a 19-year-old man who they believe placed the ad is being held pending charges. Authorities did not release his name but said charges could be filed as soon as today.

Olson graduated from St. Olaf College last year. Her family said she had taken nanny jobs at least twice before after answering online ads

Craigslist isn't to blame. That ad could have been posted on a thousand other mediums leading to the same result.

Violence against women knows no bounds and it just goes to show that these sorts of incidences that begin online aren't limited to women in this industry. This is scary which is one good reason why I'll never post on Craig's List.

And if they had made arrangements over the phone, would you stop using your phone? It has nothing to do with Craigslist, there are bad people in bars, on chat lines, advertising in the newspaper, anywhere. Protecting yourself is not about which means of communicating you choose, it is about the steps you take to verify the person you are communicating with.

Walk alone?

I There was another story I read about of some woman that got abducted but she walked home alone drunk at 3am. Dont walk home alone drunk.

Why the F#@K do women walk home?!Don't they carry a purse or have a cell phone and call a cab or go out with a buddy system(girlfriend)Hell!Maybe get lucky and get a 1 nightstand and still would be somewhat mysterious and safe than being alone.
Women don't feel like coughing up $ and expecting free ladies night atmoshphere everywhere.
Alot of drunks,lonely,horny guys(boy/girl gangs) will prey on the alone walker.

If there's no transport to home,I plunk down $ for a motel.It may hurt my finances for a paycheque or 2.But having a rest and sanctuary for the night is all that matters plus I'm single.So it's a good thing.

For married people stay home or gamble less.As casinos are the only thing opened that late.
