What makes you think our current citizenship scheme is not working? Did you notice the subject of the thread?

What would the difference be between extending the permanent residence dates and your suggestion of a conditional citizenship period? Do you feel that we need more administration? I don't.

And criminal acts don't change how citizenship works or reduce the rights that go along with it.

I suspect that you have not really thought this through.

Natualized citizens who commit felony crimes can have their citizenship revoked if it is proven that they gained their citizenship under false pretenses.

Many of these natualized(sp) citizens already have 2, 3, 10, 20 other citizenships. Let them go to one of their other countries of citizenship.

Not only that, your ideas are counter factual. There is no evidence immigrants are a crime problem. In fact the reverse is true.

Have you looked at the crime rate amongst our aboriginal folks? Where do you want to deport them to?

I don't know how long the practice of economic immigration has been going on but currently mroe than half of today's immigrants fall under that category. Meaning immigrants with money or skills to stimulate the economy. So the stereotype of the poor uneducated immigrant should be changing.

I think when talking about immigrants people are referring to Jamaicans and Somalians (just a guess could be wrong) and I can't say how many of the shootings in Toronto have been by recent black immigrants. I'd like to see data that shows that immigrants are causing crime.

Firstly, you suggested that citizenship for new immigrants should be conditional. And despite having the difference between permanent resident and citizen pointed out you stuck to your guns with a suggestion that new citizens should be treated worse than those born here.

Secondly, if there is no immigrant crime problem, why create a second tier class of citizenship for them? For fun? Because you don't like them? And if you don't think there is an immigrant crime problem why did you say the current immigration system was not working?
