I'm seriously thinking about going to Cuba from Dec 16 to the 23rd. I've never been outside N. America.

Where's the best place to get a cheap plane ticket and how to I get set up with a female "tour guide"? How much does a one week trip usually cost if I pick up a friend with benefits down there? Any agencies I can check out online before going there?

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to book a ticket to Fidel's playground for cheap, nor must you be said genius in order to "pick up" in Cuba with a beautiful lady for about $100US a night. And not to undersell our local industry, but the ladies there are SWEET. best of luck. if you can't figure it out, i'll work as your guide, for a small fee...

If you have to pay $100 US for a night with a beautiful lady in Cuba you are being extremely generous. They are sweet, you've got that part right.

$20-$30US a night will get you something really hot but you will need a casa particulare as the hotels dont like the chicas coming back to the hotels ($25US a night for the CP) and you should rent a car..driving around Cuba is a blast. ($50US a day for the car)

The food sucks though.

Times have changed as a search through the threads on this board will tell you. Police crackdowns on girls being with tourists means they are fined or jailed just for being out of their jurisdictions! They may not be seen even talking to tourists for fear of police harassment. Check your destination first, or you could end up with the pros in Havana or Varadero who DO charge $100U.S. a night.

Sigh......not again.....they do have these enforcements from time to time but when it starts to cut into their tourism dollars they usually relent. Castro aint the worlds eighth richest man for no reason.

Wow the prices must have flown up. i went to Cuba in 1994. There were hookers in the disco that would do it for $2-5 American. I thought that was the average cuban wage per month? I never paid any more than 5 bucks. the resort we were in had entertainers who were really sp's, and they charged only a few bucks American. No way in hell I'd pay $100 American in Cuba.

The average wage is in the $15-$20 US per month range. Crackdowns have been going on for years at a pretty steady pace but depending on the location may not be as intense. The girls always find a way to get around them. Just be careful and discrete and you'll find some fun.

Point taken--I was just throwing out a figure that was relatively low by our standards. $100 would more likely be a figure you would pay to a pro in Havana. Elsewhere, $100 would probably be quite sufficient to secure you a girlfriend for a few days. And with Cuba's low average monthly wage, obviously $100 adds dramatically to the quality of a girl's life.

Thats right..they can be had for from $2-$10 a night too--gorgeous ones as well. Helps if you are fluent in Spanish...Im not. The girls love little regalos as well like lipstick, eyeliner and nail polish which are hard to come by down there so anyone going down should take a supply of little presents as well----you will be well rewarded for it.

Thanks for all your help. I've done some looking around, and I have some pretty basic questions.

Do I need a passport? (I suspect yes).

Who is the cheapest to book through and when is the cheapest to go?

How much money do I bring?

What is there to do there? I've never been outside of N. America.

As for booking, my friend got us into an all inclusive, for under $900 for a week (this was 4 years ago)

As for cash, that all depends on how much you want to spend, you can do a lot of tipping at an all inclusive. I tipped a lot because the service was good and I liked the people working there, and I still came back with a lot of cash. Rum is cheap, cigars will run you a lot, but not as much as getting them up here.

What's there to do? Bars, touring, beaches, like anywhere else.

As for the ladies, you can haggle with them, so don't take their first offer. My friend hagged one to $10 US for the two of us.

Make sure you have $20USD with you when you leave, otherwise Fidal will keep you there...no joke!
