Seems a crack down is well under way. However, it should not impede a vacation anyway.

The cuba budget vacations site was helpful.

Checking out Costa Rica and Argentina vacation options.

Argentina? Sorry to break it to you but going to Argentina is like going to the US or England, argentine women are stacked up and no different than canadian women.

Being a native of a Latin country I can tell you that girls are easy to get in most latin countries with the exception of Chile, Uruguay and Argentina. I have never been to Cuba but from what I heard on this thread the life there (women wise) is exactly like in my country, LOTS of available submissive women ready and willing to please men, a ratio of 5 women to 1 men in some parts of the country, ect, ect.

Submissive is not the issue for me, the women I want to be with cannot be an air bubble in which case buying an hour or two is the maximum I can tolerate. She has to be able to converse . Othewise the Air Bubble captial of Toronto is fine, ( I expect to be flamed on this comment, Why: just my experiences are all bad with the local gals, uptight, the only wad they looked for was in my wallet and want a bad guy to beat crap out of them. I know too many women at work and socially that this is far more common place than anyone could every realize.) Gals, Lay in the bed you make for yourselves However, you still have the choice, lots of nice guys out there waiting.

USA ladies have never disappointed easy to talk and pickup at a bar. Sona finest dancer at FYEO told me that my SC bar ettiquette is such that I would be walking out of the club with dancers in the Texas/Florida Clubs, and Assuie gal Jezebel said the same for Down Under Clubs. Not sure if they were stoking me, I just wish they were, nice to hear. LOL

For the all the time that has past and battles fought women still are treated like trash.

I want to see if an island or another spot. is better..

Cuba is still on my list just going to be aware of some of the issues. the same for Argentinia, or Costa Rica .

This is turning into a chapter of Brave New World. Huxley saw the present day.

Nice Ratio.

Did any of these girls, who were so impressed with your ettiquette, give you any out-of-club action for your efforts...or did they just praise your manners and take your money?

I'm not putting you down for being respectful...I'm just not sure that dancers in Toronto, regardless of where they're from, really appreciate or respond to the effort.

I have had particularly good luck finding....lady companionship at the cafe jazz.
And yes for this type of recreation I would stay at a "la casa" they tend to turn a blind eye to the lady situation.

Not these particular girls, however, I have dated others at the club, justed related to some couteous dancers inlight of some of the threads related to Rude Strippers, these were customer service oreinted. , as well as at the BR and Z, I Don knows, HOL. No DIS 'ing detected. Understand. I like TERB site for references and some commentary on places to visit. I do not look at TERB as a place to affrim or reaffirm any belief system or as a pysocoilogical study places. In some cases it is very sad some of the threads, maybe even my own.LOL

Doing a Montreal visit in three weeks that will perk me up.

Talked to a coworker that had a friend go down to Cuba and confirmed the situaton, yes, things are getting tighter, however, the Casa Particular is the way to go.

Prongo;

Where are you planning on going in Cuba? Not many people realize it is 1200km in length. When I was in Cienfuegos(Central, South) the first time, the girl I was seeing walked about 50 ft ahead of me so no-one knew we were together. She would get in a cab, and then I would follow. I stayed at an all inclusive but paid for a "Casa Particular" each night to be with her. The second time I was there, a girl I was talking to on the beach received a fine and had her ID and personal information taken down by a cop patrolling the beach. When I was in Holguin(North East), I met a girl and moved out of my all inclusive to be with her. We were able to walk around hand in hand in public with no problems. This information is a year and a half old, I will talk to a friend who was down there last week and give you an update.

There are pros, and other girls just looking for respectful foreigners to spend some time with. Be aware that many of them will try to get you to fall for them so they will have a better future for themselves and their families.

I like the people in general, they are usually friendly and inquisitive. Take down vitamins, toothpaste, tylenol(Both adult and childrens versions of each), colouring books, ladies underwear, lipstick to give away as small gifts. They have so little but have such a strong spirit. I go down with a bulging suitcase and come back almost empty. I go to the hotel store and buy coffee, cooking oil, and other products which we take for granted and give them to families I meet. Someone asked for a t-shirt so he and his brother could share it!!! Someone else wanted my sandals when I left because he couldn't afford a pair. Always let them know you are giving them a gift(Un Regalo), and not charity. They are great people with a terrible government.

Thanks for the details, I was planning staying coastal with a visit inland for a tour.

Your the third person to comment on gifts, I am at a point where, this may turn into an CUBA AID visit instead.

Any issues taking down books, I read on the flight? (being a socialist state and all)?
Was language a major issue? think how much effort to put into learning the language.
And any issue going down by myself., I know Argentina can be a problem, roving gangs looking for solo victims?

Unless they can hold their on with me, the L word does not come into play.

Thanx Malibook. Last January I was in Holguin and Guardalavaca and I did experience some of the clamp down that you're talking about. I was still able to find some nice ladies and have a good time but it was more of a challenge than I was used to. It was my 1st time to the Holguin area and I thought it was due to that area.

It's a shame if the LE is clamping down cuz it ruins it for everybody. The girls are one of the main reasons that a flock of horny, frost bitten men go down there every year. However, I still think that good times can be had if you go off the beaten tourist track and check out the locals. I was able to find some action in Banas and Holguin. Guardalavaca was a complete washout. If fact, I found the women in Guardalavaca would snub me. They wouldn't even say hola back. I found this surprising because the Cubans and the Latins in general are otherwise very polite people.

To answer your questions Prongo, I strongly recomend that you brush up on your espanol a little bit before you leave and take a Spanish phrase book with you. Otherwise, the language will be a problem. Almost none of the girls speak English unless they work in the tourist industry and those won't risk the gig to get mixed up with a tourist.

You're allowed to bring books to read. You can even leave them there with the people. You're not allowed anything that criticizes the Cuban government. You're not allowed to bad mouth the government in any way. The Cuban people are allowed books, tv's but not VCR's and not computers. You can't even bring VCR or computer components. I'm not sure about video tapes.

You won't find anyone in public bad mouthing the government, but in their own homes, once they trust you, they will surely give you an ear full about how shitty their lives are.

There's no issue with going by yourself. Cuba is a very safe country. They deal with people severely who hassle the tourists so it's just like having diplomatic immunity. It's one of the things I like about Cuba. Just use common sense and don't cause problems or disrespect the people and you'll be fine.

Next year, I'm thinking of another paradise to check out. Maybe Brazil or Costa Rica. How do those places compare to Cuba?

As long as you don't bring porn mags or material into Cuba, there should not be any problem. Mags such as FHM, ARENA, VOGUE...stuff that contains nudity not of porn nature pose no problem when entering Cuba. Text base paperback, they don't care really.

They rarely check tourists at the airport. But when they do, be prepared for the customs to go through all your luggage in a thorough way. Every piece of your clothes, pages of your books, papers in your wallet, pockets will not be spared. They will , for example, pick up your PDA or deodorant stick and ask, " what is this ? "
They don't mean no harm, just the way they are told to do it, by their superior. The whole search, if happens, can take long. But if it happens, just be patient, and be nice. They are just doing their jobs, nothing else.

Travelling by yourself is fine there, Cuba is one of the safest tourists destinations down south, because of Fidel. They do have crimes on tourists, some deadly, so excercise the same caution as you would tavelling to elsewhere. People in general are very friendly, as mentioned, but always be alert. Cuba aid , as you said, would be nice, as always. Consider bringing music CD's as well. After all Cuba is a music nation, considering Salsa, Mambo are Cuban inventions.

No habla Espanol, amigo ? It's not a must, but knowing some basic Spanish words and phrases will lead to you to another level of fun. So brush up on it.

Play it safe, stay clear of drug dealers ( yes , they have that too in Cuba, I was fucking shocked a few years ago when approached...) and any chicas that look too young a legal age. You would not want to taste their slammer.

You have some good advise and info here so far. Enjoy your trip.

I am still collecting information, I want to be on the coast, Habana, or Santiago at the southern most end.

Got some sound advice and contacts for Casa Paticulars from a couple of coworkers that make it a 2-3 times a year trip to Cuba. Amazing when I pulled out a map of Cuba, people started talking.

Looking at One week at an all inclusive hotel and a second out and about at a Casa Particular.

Started a Spanish course. Interst and courtesy

I am one to go for the cultural side, the people (WOMEN), the music, sites, get away from the so called First world.I do not want to see the people I see here in Toronto, Uptight, stuck up lot. I will go bipolar and toss them into the ocean as shark food. <ok I said to much, heheheh>, Breathe deeply, calming down. Back in my happy place.

The Women. The Women. The Women.

I have one suit case which will be for Gifts. Toothpaste, shirts, tee-shirts, , candies, some school supplies. Everyone has said this is a must.

I'm so worked up over going that nothing is gonna stop me, less a Miltitary Coup. <DAMN IT, No Military Coup Until after I have visited. After November 1 2003 do as you see fit.

Thanks, I avoid that crap like the plague I stopped two relationships because of drugs the girl took.

Considering Cuba is in the travel path to the source, not surprised.

"I don't take drugs"

Coundown to Cuba...

My own Cuba trip will be happening in a few weeks.

I expect to be in Havana and Varedero and (unfortunately) I will only have one week in the sun before I have to return to the dreary Canadian winter.

Any suggestions for things to do (female-related and otherwise) would be appreciated.

Pyro,

Looking forward to hearing about your experiences. I am also thinking about going to Cuba, but am on a limited budget. Any idea on how much a trip would cost in Cdn $?

I just saw the James Bond Film "Die another day" and when Bond was in Cuba, they actually inferred in a couple of scenes that westerners go down there to meet women.

DUH! What else, the quest for a Latino Goddess and get laid.

I am not a beach person. I might get pushed out to sea when found on the beach in a drunken stupor.

FYI: the cost of a trip can range from $1000 to $2500(peak season JAN/FEB) all inclusive. I went through 3 agents till I finally used Flight Centre discounts Centre. You have to go through with an agent. I di speak toa Cuban cabbie and it is possible to do flight only, but then unless you have a reference you are at the mercy of the cabbie and which hotel they are associated .

Later this week I expect to get some detailed references from a former Manager like frequents Cuba yearly. They are like us on the board here. ALL BACKED UP.

Aside from the ladies,I am looking into to doing Deep Sea fishing Blue/Black Marlin. Old Man and Sea comes to mind.

Keep everyone posted.
