I didn't see any chica when i was here last August. My friend searched around but no luck for him. He was so mad because it was his last trip before marriage.
Are you sure you went to Cuba?

Stay away from tourist traps or centres. We avoided one dance club because tourists tended to go there. We went to local clubs. Honestly, I met my first gal BEFORE I even stepped into the club. We get out of a taxi, and we're looked upon like quasi-celebrities. Ultimately, the runway model-like gal I spent most of my time with gave her number to my friend because I asked him to get it (I only said hello to her as I was busy with two babes who I didn't want to abandon for her - I am a gentleman you know, lol). I called her and she agreed to meet me at an Italian restauarant in Havana, and the rest is history.

At another club, I actually felt 'violated'. Looked on like fresh meat, and I even had a hard time trying to get rid of a gal that I wasn't so interested in. We (my friends and I) had to laugh at each other as to how it felt. I guess that's how rock stars or movie stars feel I suppose.

oh man, can you PLEASE tell us what clubs (local, or otherwise) are good for a nice environment, not TOO crowded, a good mix of crowd, and a lot of chica's?

Depends where in Cuba you stay. Just ask the hotel or better yet, locals who may work at the hotel or outside the hotel, and tip them a CUC peso. Ask taxi drivers. They will tell you. Don't worry about crowds. Every been in a room where the chicas vastly outnumber the guys? Don't think you'll find that uncomfortable.

p.s. A 'chica' who's out to hustle or meet a tourist, has no or little interest in a local (one gal I was with, scoffed at a pleasant Cuban guy's compliments when she was around me).

I'm sure most of my esteemed colleagues have read at least some of my Cuba posts.

I have never, ever been to a Club in Cuba.

There simply is no need for it.

Yes, I know. You can pick up girls while walking to the bus stop or at an outdoor cafe or while riding the bus! Some are amateur hustlers while others are just local girls impressed by a tourist hombre.

But the clubs are also interesting, if not for the fantastic music and cheap booze. Seeing sexy chicas in their heels and nice dresses or club outfits is another facet of the whole experience. No search effort is involved, whereas, you must explore real Cuban society for the others. We danced to the reggaton & salsa & even live Latin rap artists.

One or two local gals visited our hotel's gym (they were members), and fraternized that way (oh god one was so solid but there was no time for me to 'cheat').

You can find a real gem outside of the club (the estudiantes you mentioned). I was lucky to find a gem of a jinetera at a club who was quite refined, drop dead gorgeous & astounding in the bedroom.

So much for Obama for improving ties with Cuba, He's not even trying to reach out--Cuba is bitching about. This guy has been a total let down, I hope he enjoys his long Hawaii vacation.

Looks like I'm never seeing Cuba unless I'm willing to risk a big fine.

... or you could take a 4hr drive to Toronto, where you can fly to Varadero no problem.

I went with a few American buddies last year, and there is no problem going there with your US passport. When you come back, nothing gets stamped in your passport if you do it properly.

Just make sure not to drive back to Detroit with a suitcase full of cuban cigars, rum, cuba t-shirts, or anything else that shows that you might have been to Cuba. Just in case they open your suitcase for some reason........

If you want to bring anything back, make a friend in Toronto and leave your souvenirs at their place. Then on your next trip to Toronto 3 months later, you can pick the stuff up and say you bought it in Toronto. It will be hard for anyone to say you went to Cuba for a week when you were only in Canada visiting Toronto for the weekend :)

PM me if you need details on how to get in/out of Varadero as an American. As I said, it's quite easy.

I thought the U.S. relaxed it's travel protocol with Cuba?
as soon as it happens there will be no more Cuba as we know it...it will look like Puerto Rico, girls will become fat and there will be a KFC at every corner

one of the most important qualities of Cuba is that there is not a lot of Americans there

I would have to agree, lol

Its not as strict and if you have love ones in Cuba you can help more--about it. Obama said he was going to reach out and try to make new friends, was bull. Just like ending the billionaire tax cuts. Oh he got the gays in the army now-wow, good going guy. One more reason for the Middle East to hate us some more.

Maybe I should get a "I rather be in Cuba" bumper sticker, lol At least when Cuba took over the businesses, they didn't turn around and re-sell the companies back...I'm thinking GM.
