I think you're being unfair on this one. This is actually prudent. Something like this is too risky in the hands of casual observers. It's not like they are banning phone modifications, just protecting users from themselves. Those who want cyanogenmod can get it easily.Android is open. Google is open.

Jump to one minute and ten seconds in.

Removing an app that isn't illegal or malware and actually makes it easier for someone to modify their phone doesn't fly in the face of the rhetoric of the above video?I still don't see how this is making android more closed. They are not blocking Cynaogen from developing their custom roms in any way
Violation of the terms of service. Still just as easy to do.Removing an app that isn't illegal or malware and actually makes it easier for someone to modify their phone doesn't fly in the face of the rhetoric of the above video?
Oooook.
No it does not, because you can brick your phone if you mess up. Stuff on play store needs to be idiot proof. If people do not have the brains to find this app, then they are not smart enough to be installing a custom rom anyway.Removing an app that isn't illegal or malware and actually makes it easier for someone to modify their phone doesn't fly in the face of the rhetoric of the above video?

Sadly, you live in a hyper-regulated world of Apple and unable to relate to any of this so that is why your questions and comments seem so naive to Android users. Actually, I am curious why you are harping about such a small issue to once again try to justify Apple's insane software regulation. Kind of like someone stuck with black and white TV pointing out that only 16,000 shades of colour are available on competitive TV's instead of 64,000 shades. It's moot to you Apple users - you have nothing other than what comes from Apple's tit.Removing an app that isn't illegal or malware and actually makes it easier for someone to modify their phone doesn't fly in the face of the rhetoric of the above video?

Okay ... let me help you by relating to my frustrations with Apple. If you want to exercise a level of control or new software (e.g keyboards) not offered by Apple you had to Jailbreak your phone. Apple fights Jailbreaking by continuously adding patches with each OS release. If they find your iPhone jailbroken, they refuse to repair it - even for clear hardware failures. Obviously applications that use a jailbroken phone are not available from Apple.
In the Android world - jailbreaking your phone is similar to 'rooting' your phone. Rooting your phone allows you to perform many tasks and controls unavailable to the average user. Like jailbreaking, you do have additional capabilities including the capability to brick your phone but Android users still have the ability to chose. If you go to Google Play Apps and type in 'root' - you will find that there are lots of rooted apps including Superuser and Titanium backup.
So out of all the diversity and choices Android has with keyboards, players, widgets on our standard Android plus the additional control, and depth offed by rooting your device .... you throw stones because of CyanogenMod is available only outside of the Google Play. (Remember all Apple apps are suppose to come from iTunes)
CyanogenMod is recommended for highly technical users because as CyanogenMod states on their own website: " CyanogenMod and it’s team hold no responsibility to any damage caused to your phone, loss of earnings as a result of damaging your phone or anything else that is connected to the development of this rom." ... " Lastly we have the Nightlies, which are as volatile as a firmware can get. These releases keep coming at an interval of a day or two and if you do end up trying one of these, do not be alarmed if your device goes cuckoo on you. These ROMs are largely untested, and as advised by CyanogenMod, not meant for use for an average user. These releases, are meant to test untested waters that may or may not break your phone."
Gee .... wonder why Google might remove this from their Play list ..< as in duh>. As I was able to do with the first beta versions of Swype before it was available on Google Play - users still have the option of downloading the software they want - just not always from the Play store.
I could see an Android user raising an issue but someone living in the old Apple realm ??? Jealousy can be so petty !

Don't be jealous djk, Intrinsic is commenting on content. I didn't realize the paranoid attacks on Android included grouping any similar rational opinions that oppose you as 'bf' but it is a lonely dark world you live in.helping out your bf... that's true love!!
LMAO. so butthurt.Don't be jealous djk, Intrinsic is commenting on content. I didn't realize the paranoid attacks on Android included grouping any similar rational opinions that oppose you as 'bf' but it is a lonely dark world you live in.
As for your comment "lmao, mad as usual":
I'm not upset - I'm not lashing out at any Apple news in a fit of jealous rage - just trying to set a rational response to your irrational post. If I think about my emotion when writing this simple response, it would a mixture of pity & frustration but mostly frustration.... like a math teacher trying to teach a student basic math principles.
Let me help you, djk. Don't suffer this internal conflict caused by misplaced product loyalty ... it is just a company ... they come & go. Quit making excuses ... drop the inferior Apple .... come out of the cave and into the light. Look at the Samsung Note 3 and get it. Apple is still trying to copy it - why wait ? Embrace the latest technology - get the smart watch. A friend of mine has both and he loves them. No more excuses ... no more jealousy .... just the best technology at your command.![]()
