Maybe Mr. Dale should start hanging around grade schools wearing a trenchcoat and carrying a cellphone and camera. Of course, he will insists that he is on public property and, therefore, within his legal rights.

Dale is a pathetic, lying, little wuss. Anyone drinking the Star's koolaid really neeeds a brain transplant. The Star stopped being a credible news source a couple of years ago. Wanna argue? Just read the lunatic ravings of Heather Mallick on most days. Case closed.

Yeah, good point.

Just for fun we should find out where the Star editor lives, sneak around his back yard taking pictures and see how he reacts

And there's more:

Ford threatened Dale, on public property, forcing him to drop his phone in order to escape. Ford then used the phone. This is called "theft" in Canada, or in common parlance, Ford is a mugger.

Yes. That's criminal.
Boo fucking hoo. If the snivelling little piece of shit was peering in my backyard I guarantee you I would do more than yell and my neighbours would be backing me up that he fell. LMFAO

He should have stood his ground, maybe that trailer trash mayor would have assaulted him. Then he could be forced from office solving Toronto's biggest problem.
I have to wonder what happened to the recorder and the phone. From the reporters account he makes no mention of them being returned. If they are in the possession of the Mayor is that not theft? I'm not sure if the Mayor clarified this part of the story or gave his version of the phone ... if someone knows please let us know.

Never mind I found the quote from Ford:

Ford says he never physically touched Dale, although he admitted to cornering him near his fence, although on public property.

"I didn't hit him, I didn't touch him. When I went over to pick up (the recorder and phone Dale dropped), he ran round me, and took off, back through the terrain, back through the parking lot, jumped in a car and that was it," Ford said.

So he did have it from his account and considering that he did say he menaced and threaten another person on Public Property then it should be considered misdemeanor theft or unlawful possession, I don't know which one. If he turned the property over to Police immediately then I doubt the Police or the Crown will pursue charges. If he used the phone or deleted stuff from it will be a whole different issue.

I supported Ford's run for mayor both financially and direct work and while I disagree with the Toronto Star's ideology I do believe that it is very important to have an active and Free Press for democracy to work. Unless this gets clarified in Ford's favor I will no longer support him. To me if this unfolds against Ford and he is seen to be a bully of the Press then I can't possibly support him

Again why with the personal attacks?

I guess if I describe the reporter as a fudge packer bent on a personal vendetta because Mayor Ford won't attend any Gay Pride events. Because this reporter and his boyfriend feel slighted that Mayor Ford would rather spend the weekend with his family.

The Star is pissed because the people have someone in office who isn't part of what they consider the "in crowd", they want him out. And I'm guessing that the hard on some of you have for Mayor Ford is the same, so he's fat and not comfortable infront of people. He's not a professional politician, but an average joe who put his money were his mouth is and got into politics to do some good for the people of Toronto.

What do you think will be better for us in the future, Subways or LRTs? Me I know it's Subways, I drive a car and know that Sheppard will be impossible once those rolling bill boards get rolling along. Can you imagine the traffic once you have the busses at rush hour along side the LRTs?

I live along Sheppard and having the LRT is one reason I'd consider moving. So Mayor Ford represents my view of what could make this city great, NOT THE TORONTO STAR.
Speaking of personal attacks, yours is a beaut. Do you actually have anything to conribute to the topic, other than your irrelevant rant and unhealthy fantasies about Star reporter's sex lives? There are lotsa threads about Dream Subways and Evil LRTs where they'd be on topic.

And by that assault you would be demonstrably unfit for public office.

Wasn't his point that personal attacks are not warranted? You continually bring up Ford being fat. We get it. Denigrating people for being obese is socially acceptable. Denigrating people for being gay, or black, or whatever is not acceptable. I think the original guy was simply pointing out the double standard (and you only hammered home his point).

I think Ford is his own worst enemy, no doubt about it. He is under attack by those who do not like him every day, and he handles it terribly (and he should really enlist better help to assist him with this). The Star is simply an exercise in bad journalism, and this is simply one way they can sell more papers at all cost. It is a bad paper and this only reinforces it. Sue-Ann Levy's column was right on.

I said it to make a point, regarding how a number of people were attacking Mayor Ford for his weight and not sticking to the issue at hand. And if you read my post I had compaired their personal attacks on him to me calling the reporter a "fudge packer".

Do I think this reporter is crying Wolf, absolutely. Did Mr. Ford over react, maybe, but I'm guessing he's fed up with the Star's vendetta against him.

I'd rather have an average Joe like Rob Ford in the driver's seat, than a slick "politician".

When you say what would be better for us in the future, are you accounting for the exorbitant interest payments on the crippling debt that subways would require?

In light of that it's very clear to me that LRT, and affordable debt levels, are much better.

You may prefer reckless spending and out of control budgets but i prefer that finances be kept reasonable.

You don't have a clue what you are talking about. You can sit and watch someone's house all week. Unless you do something to interfere with them or for some reason your actions are threatening there is nothing whatsoever illegal.
Even that pre-supposes that the journalist, who covers the local beat, and had a ACTUAL STORY THAT WAS PUBLISHED about Ford buying city property, was doing anything other than being a good journalist and checking out the details of his story in person. Sane people would call that, 'Journalistic Responsibility' especially when it doesn't involve crossing a border or a timezone. Pretty much the exact opposite of Fordies who claim that Yonge and St. Clair is some sort of dystopian hellscape without putting more effort into it than trying to drive their SUV though at rush hour if they've even done that...

Apart from being an asshole, Dale seems like the biggest wimp on the planet. Did he pee his pants as well?

I agree. No way I'd let Ford mug me like that.

Apart from being an asshole,
What an ass-- Attempting to check out a story that you're about to publish-- Conservatives would never do that!!! (As has been repeatedly proven.)

Dale seems like the biggest wimp on the planet. Did he pee his pants as well?
Young men from sheltered middle class backgrounds getting spooked after being cornered by 310lbs of irrationally agitated hillbilly? Odds of urine: Decent.

I agree, except the only difference between a regular citizen and Ford is that Rob has had his private homes staked out numerous times. I dont blame him for being extra touchy when it comes to protecting his family
